Job Description

Transdev is currently seeking a General Manager to join their team in Modesto, California. This is a full-time, hands-on leadership role integral to the success of Transdev's paratransit and fixed-route transportation services. The General Manager position offers a competitive salary range of $140,000 to $155,000 and an attractive benefits package that includes a 401(k) plan with company contribution, medical, dental, and vision coverage, along with paid time off and vacation benefits.

As the General Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the contractual service operations in Modesto. This includes managing operational, administrative, and information system functions, along with providing leadership and oversight to critical departments such as safety, training, and maintenance. This position requires a proactive and strategic approach to maintaining contract compliance, improving operational efficiencies, and ensuring safety standards are upheld across all levels of the organization.

The General Manager is expected to develop and maintain strong business relationships with clients, employees, and stakeholders, ensuring customer satisfaction and contract retention. You will be responsible for preparing budgets and forecasts, managing resources effectively, and implementing action plans aligned with company goals. Your role will also include compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations such as EPA, OSHA, DOT, ADA, and EEOC standards.

This position demands excellent communication skills, the ability to build and lead strong teams, and a proven track record in budget management and P&L responsibility. Working collaboratively with different levels of employees—from hourly operators to senior management—you will foster a culture of open communication, safety, and continuous improvement. The role also involves establishing training goals and requirements for personnel to ensure the highest standards of service and operational excellence.

Job Requirements

  • must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed
  • generally subjected to long periods spent sitting typing or looking at a computer screen
  • work environment will be a combination of both indoors and outdoors

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent bachelor degree strongly preferred
  • 3-5 years of recent and relevant direct experience managing all aspects of paratransit and fixed-route service
  • prior experience working with a collective bargaining agreement
  • computer literate with excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • evidence of building solid relationships with supervisors peers and subordinates
  • excellent communication skills
  • successful track record in managing budgets and or P&L responsibility
  • ability to effectively and appropriately communicate and or collaborate with agencies directors elected officials operators and all levels of hourly and salaried employees including senior management
  • self-starter able to obtain successful results without supervision

Job Duties

  • handle all contractual services including operations administrative functions and information systems provide oversight of safety training and maintenance departments
  • ensure compliance with all company procedures and policies
  • ensure services are within budget and develop and implement action plans to improve operational efficiencies
  • maintain company and contractual assets including vehicles facilities inventories tools and equipment
  • ensure compliance with local state and federal laws and regulations such as EPA OSHA DOT ADA and EEOC
  • analyze prepare and develop budgets and forecasts
  • assess resource needs problems and trends and plan accordingly
  • develop action plans to ensure customer retention
  • assure a safe working environment
  • provide and promote effective communications with customers
  • provide leadership and guidance to develop location and company bench strength
  • establish training goals and requirements for all personnel
  • satisfy client corporate and contractual reporting requirements and needs
