The role of General Manager in Training at Life Time is an exciting and high-responsibility leadership position designed for ambitious professionals passionate about health and fitness management. This role offers the unique opportunity to partner closely with the current club General Manager or Senior General Manager to directly impact club operations, financial performance, and member satisfaction. As a General Manager in Training, you will be deeply involved in driving the club’s success by providing leadership in key areas such as customer service excellence, team member engagement, sales strategies, and in-club business performance. This position is structured to support your professional development through enrollment in Life Time’s General Manager Certification program, along with comprehensive hands-on training delivered by senior leadership including the club’s General Manager and Area Director. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include supporting and leading a large team of 150 to 300 team members, holding Department Managers accountable to Life Time’s high standards, coaching staff, and serving as the primary ambassador for the club to ensure each member has an exceptional experience.

This role requires a dynamic leader who is eager to learn and grow within a fast-paced, health-focused organization. You will be expected to maintain high operational standards by conducting regular inspections, analyzing member satisfaction data, and managing budgets and forecasts. Additionally, facilitating ongoing communication and collaboration through weekly Department Manager meetings and quarterly club assessments are integral parts of the role. The position offers the chance to develop vital managerial skills such as employee development, performance assessments, hiring, promotions, and terminations, ultimately preparing you to become a successful General Manager. Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • three years of experience in the fitness, hospitality, or retail industry
  • two years of management experience
  • understanding of computer software such as Microsoft Excel and Word
  • excellent interviewing techniques
  • ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, climb and raise up to 50 pounds
  • CPR and AED certified

Job Duties

  • Attend required General Manager Certification trainings and present on the business plan
  • perform daily walk-through inspections to ensure all areas of the club are clean, neat, organized, and like new
  • study Net Satisfaction Scores to ensure the best member experience
  • monitor budgets and forecast revenue and expenses monthly, quarterly, and annually for each department
  • monitor supplies, payroll, cost of goods, and expenses monthly, quarterly, and annually for each department
  • mentor Department Managers to ensure continuous growth through training, development, performance assessment, and feedback
  • co-facilitate weekly Department Manager meetings
  • participate in quarterly club assessments with General Manager and Area Director
  • authorize new hires, promotions, employee status changes, and terminations with Department Managers
  • guide and execute monthly Manager on Duty program
