The General Manager role at Hotel Indigo Tuscaloosa Downtown is a leadership position responsible for overseeing all operations and driving the property toward its full potential. This includes maximizing revenue, controlling costs, engaging associates, enhancing guest satisfaction, and preserving the asset while ensuring complete compliance with brand standards. The General Manager will inspire and manage a dynamic team across multiple departments such as housekeeping, maintenance, breakfast service, and guest reception, ensuring a consistent, high-quality guest experience. They will strategically analyze the local market and competition to optimize room rates and sales opportunities, collaborate with community organizations like the Convention and Visitors Bureau and Chamber of Commerce, and maintain an active presence in the vibrant Tuscaloosa community.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 2+ years of documented franchised select service hotel management
  • IHG experience preferred
  • Ability to leverage provided technology to manage property effectively
  • Must be able to take direction and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to manage, delegate, and multitask
  • Ability to remain calm during emergencies or difficult situations
  • Flexible schedule availability including weekends

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 2+ years of franchised select service hotel management experience
  • IHG experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Coordinate and actively manage housekeeping, maintenance, breakfast service, and guest reception departments to ensure a consistent, high quality guest experience
  • Monitor guest satisfaction scores daily
  • Respond to guest complaints and resolve issues satisfactorily
  • Monitor local market and competition and strategically calibrate rates to outperform competitors
  • Engage with local community through CVB and Chamber to stay connected with local events
  • Implement and maintain effective sales and marketing plans
  • Manage sales director to ensure group bookings, LNRs, and SMERF business
  • Engage with guests to gather feedback on experience
  • Hire, train, and develop employees
  • Delegate duties to maximize labor hours and reduce turnover
  • Maintain departmental budgets and use conservative economics in ordering supplies
  • Work with ownership to create budgets and forecasts
  • Supervise deep cleaning and preventative maintenance initiatives
  • Ensure adherence to brand and ownership standards
  • Complete all reporting to ownership standards
  • Monitor and control employee labor hours
  • Ensure department heads complete all responsibilities and checklists
  • Inspect rooms regularly with housekeeping
  • Submit purchase orders in a timely manner
  • Be available 24 hours a day for hotel issues
