The Club is renowned for its distinguished offerings, including both formal and casual dining, a comprehensive catering and banquet service, a health club and gymnasium, as well as a recently launched wine bar that adds a contemporary flair to the member experience. Particularly notable is the Club’s extended operational schedule during the vibrant Mardi Gras season, embodying the spirit and cultural significance of the region through around-the-clock engagement and social festivities.

The role of General Manager at The Athelstan Club represents a rare leadership opportunity to helm a historic institution that prides itself on blending longstanding traditions with forward-looking initiatives. Job Requirements

  • Education and relevant experience in hospitality or related field

Job Duties

  • Provide visible, hands-on leadership across all Club operations, fostering a culture of service excellence, accountability, and professionalism

  • maintain a consistent presence throughout the Club and serve as a liaison to the Board and committees
  • lead and develop a high-performing team through recruitment, training, and clear performance expectations
  • oversee all food and beverage operations, ensuring consistency in quality, service, and presentation across all outlets
  • drive programming and engagement through events, wine dinners, and Club traditions
  • grow and elevate the Club’s catering and private event business
  • develop and manage operating and capital budgets, ensuring strong financial controls and long-term sustainability
  • oversee facilities, maintenance, and compliance with all health, safety, and regulatory requirements
  • effectively manage peak operational periods, including extended operations during Mardi Gras
