Job Description

Wag Hotels was founded in 2005 by passionate pet lovers who identified a significant gap in the market for high-quality pet boarding and daycare services. With an initial mission sparked by the founders' personal need for reliable and loving care for their pets during business trips, Wag Hotels has since grown into a leading pet care provider with 15 convenient locations spread across California, Texas, Illinois, and Colorado. This expansion reflects the company’s dedication to offering the highest standards of service in the pet care industry, catering to the needs of cats and dogs alike.

As a company deeply committed to the well-being and happiness of pets, Wag Hotels strives to be more than just a boarding facility. It positions itself as a home-away-from-home for pets, ensuring that every animal under their care experiences uncompromised fun, safety, and comfort. The company’s ethos is built around strong values, including passion for pet care, a culture of growth and integrity, and prioritizing relationships with pet parents through trustworthy and enriching experiences. Every location operates with a firm commitment to guest care excellence, maintaining spotless cleanliness and safety standards to provide a reliable environment for pets and a peace of mind for their owners.

The role available at Wag Hotels is a critical leadership position that requires a high level of operational and team management skills to support the company’s continued growth and profitability. This role involves leading the overall operational efforts at Wag Hotels, with a focus on fostering a culture that values exceptional customer service, pet care, and safety. The ideal candidate will be responsible for recruiting, hiring, and retaining a talented workforce, managing labor and costs efficiently to meet profit-and-loss objectives, and collaborating closely with the executive team to develop and implement company policies. Additionally, the position demands hands-on management of customer interactions to ensure outstanding client satisfaction and effective handling of any concerns or issues.

A key responsibility within this role is to train and guide teams by promoting healthy communication, conducting hotel tours, and navigating timekeeping systems. Supervisory duties also include evaluating and appraising staff performance, enforcing disciplinary procedures when necessary, and handling administrative tasks through systems such as PEO for payroll and scheduling. Candidates must be familiar with all aspects of care and safety policies, not only to apply these standards consistently but also to actively train staff members and maintain a safe and welcoming environment for guests and employees.

The operational management also extends to maintaining hotel cleanliness, overseeing maintenance requests, managing inventory, and ensuring adequate ordering of supplies. Comfort and safety stand paramount, especially in emergency situations where the manager must be prepared to operate both front and back of the house with composure and efficiency. This leadership role demands a resilient individual with the ability to manage a team of over 35 employees, demonstrating flexibility in work availability and strong problem-solving skills under pressure. The position underscores Wag Hotels' commitment to excellence, ensuring that every pet parent can trust their beloved companions are cared for with the utmost professionalism and genuine affection.

By joining Wag Hotels, employees become part of a passionate community that values diversity, inclusivity, and integrity, providing rewarding career growth opportunities and the chance to make a positive impact on the lives of pets and their families across the United States.
