The General Manager (GM) role at Sonesta International Hotels is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing daily operations at one of its hotel properties. The GM serves as the onsite leader and primary representative for Sonesta with guests, clients, hotel associates, and ownership. This role demands an experienced hospitality professional who can consistently deliver outstanding business results by focusing on revenue growth, cost control, guest satisfaction, associate engagement, and operational excellence. The GM works collaboratively with various internal departments including marketing, revenue management, sales, human resources, finance, facilities management, IT, and procurement to drive hotel success.
The General Manager is expected to embody the Sonesta brand values and uphold the Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards, instilling passion for customer service throughout the hotel team. The GM is also responsible for optimizing room revenue through strategic pricing, managing food and beverage operations, maintaining hotel amenities, ensuring facility upkeep and cleanliness, and leading staff recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management.
Financial stewardship is a fundamental part of the GM’s duties, including budget development, variance analysis, managing financial inflows and outflows, and communicating financial performance to ownership. Additionally, maintaining compliance with health, safety, and alcohol service laws is essential alongside managing hotel standards and policies. The General Manager role requires a dynamic leader capable of managing multiple teams and operational components while representing the hotel at events and fostering community relationships to generate new sales leads.
This full-time position offers a competitive salary range between $94,500 and $105,000 per year, with the actual pay depending on the candidate’s experience, knowledge, and skills.
