Job Description
Life Time is a premier national Healthy Way of Life brand dedicated to promoting healthy and happy lives for its members. Operating over 110 state-of-the-art athletic resorts across the United States and Canada, Life Time offers an unmatched experience that goes far beyond conventional fitness centers. Open 24/7, the company provides comprehensive services including world-class training programs, innovative nutrition guidance, and a holistic approach to wellness. Life Time’s mission is to engage its members at every stage of life with activities and resources tailored to individual interests, supporting healthier living, aging, and entertainment for individuals, couples, and families of all ages. The company’s commitment to creating a balanced, sustainable lifestyle has established it as a leader in the health and fitness industry, fostering an environment where members feel motivated, supported, and empowered to achieve their wellness goals.
The General Manager in Training (GM in Training) role is a valuable leadership opportunity within Life Time, designed for highly motivated individuals seeking to advance their careers in health club management. This position partners closely with the club's current General Manager or Senior General Manager, assisting with the overall direction, coordination, operation, and success of the fitness club. The GM in Training plays a crucial role in ensuring the club meets its financial objectives while delivering exceptional leadership in areas such as customer service, team relations, sales strategies, business performance, and member participation.
In this role, you will be enrolled in the Life Time General Manager Certification program and complete specialized trainings provided by Life Time Education. The position includes extensive on-the-job training that involves working alongside the club's General Manager and Area Director to develop leadership skills across a team ranging from 150 to 300 staff members. The GM in Training will be responsible for supporting and motivating managers, fostering a culture aligned with Life Time’s standards, and acting as an ambassador to create unforgettable experiences for every member.
The career path through this program ensures professional growth in operational management, financial oversight, and team leadership within a dynamic and fast-paced environment focused on health and wellness. This invaluable experience prepares candidates to eventually assume full General Manager responsibilities, managing all facets of life club operations including membership retention, budget management, and departmental accountability. The role demands a balance of strategic vision and hands-on management, ensuring the club maintains a clean, organized, and welcoming atmosphere that exemplifies the Life Time brand.
