Job Requirements
- 3-5 years of management experience in the restaurant entertainment or hospitality industry casual dining a plus
- Associate or bachelor's degree preferred
- Has successfully demonstrated leadership abilities
- Business acumen to operate a high-volume business
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Responsible alcohol service and food safety certifications as required
- Position requires standing and mobility for up to 12 hours and ability to lift 25-50 pounds
Job Qualifications
- 3-5 years of management experience in the restaurant entertainment or hospitality industry casual dining a plus
- Associate or bachelor's degree preferred
- Has successfully demonstrated leadership abilities
- Business acumen to operate a high-volume business
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Responsible alcohol service and food safety certifications as required
- Kitchen managers must have current alcohol and food certification that meets state requirements
Job Duties
- Manage restaurant environment ensuring prompt friendly service
- Breed a culture using the vision mission statement to guide teamwork results integrity and passion for service fun balance innovation and being guest driven
- Ensure immediate response and correction of all verbal guest complaints by self and staff
- Maintain adequate inventory levels
- Ensure product preparation and presentation meets company standards
- Actively participates in the community to increase sales and enhance awareness of Applebee's
- Effectively oversees and schedules associates to meet sales demands
- Maintains effective safety and security programs according to company policy and government standards
- Promotes and manages restaurant organization cleanliness and sanitation
- Institutes preventative maintenance of all equipment and building
- Advises area director of any nonroutine situations
- Completes all other assigned duties and responsibilities
- Ensuring quality recruitment and referrals of potential management candidates
- Adhering to and promoting training procedures of new managers
- Maintains a trained staff through effective use of employment orientation individual training sessions associate meetings and implementation of company policy
- Develops an environment of constant development of managers and associates including informal ongoing reviews as well as written evaluations every six months
- Assesses the effectiveness of associates provides candid fair feedback on a regular basis and continuously works with associates on their areas of development
- Ensures correct staffing levels utilizes patterned interviews
- Selects new associates based on competency identification not need
- Ensuring exit interviews are conducted on all terminating associates
- Demonstrates proper execution of training systems while emphasizing importance of training to management and associates
- Ensuring acceptable associate performance and documents situations that require or could lead to disciplinary or corrective action institutes progressive discipline when appropriate
- Conducts weekly management meetings and safety and expert meetings monthly
- Ensuring compliance with company policies practices and procedures and communicates all changes to associates
- Ensuring timely performance one on ones with all associates with written evaluations every six months
- Works with non-exempt managers on improving organizational and effective time management skills
- Acts as coach to all associates
- Ensuring restaurant administrative and accounting duties are properly completed
- Maintains and controls company assets
- Ensures compliance with local state and federal laws regulations and guidelines
- Ensures the restaurant is meeting or exceeding operating budgets
- Manages all service contracts and follows through on work and billing
- Completes competitive survey of regional purveyors to ensure fairness in billing
- Monitors and manages capital expenditures
- Analyzes systems and procedures for continual improvement of earning goals
- Ensures all cash handling procedures are adhered to
- Performs and analyzes weekly food and liquor inventories and immediately corrects deficiencies
- Prepares and submits accurate daily weekly monthly paperwork to area director vice president of operations accounting and payroll departments and other administrative departments
- Inspires cooperation and teamwork from management and associates by building a culture derived from Applebee's vision
- Is guest focused and promotes the team to be guest focused
- Completes all assignments and duties properly and on schedule
