Job Description
KFC Corporation is a globally recognized leader in the quick-service restaurant industry, renowned for its iconic fried chicken and commitment to delivering high-quality food and exceptional customer service. With a rich heritage spanning decades, KFC continues to expand its presence and influence across diverse markets through both corporate-owned and franchised locations. This establishment operates as a dynamic fast-food restaurant focused on providing flavorful menu options that cater to a broad customer base while emphasizing operational excellence, innovation, and community engagement. The 4650 W. Tennessee Street location in Tallahassee, FL, exemplifies KFC's dedication to creating welcoming dining experiences and fostering positive work environments for its team members. This role is based in the Operations department, reporting directly to a District Manager, and is classified as an exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The Restaurant General Manager is a pivotal role within the company, entrusted with overseeing all aspects of restaurant operations to ensure alignment with the brand's vision, mission, and guiding values. The General Manager is charged with directing daily activities related to product preparation, delivery, customer service, facility upkeep, and financial stewardship to promote sustained business growth and operational efficiency.
The Restaurant General Manager position involves hands-on leadership in selecting, training, and coaching high-performing talent (A+ employees) to drive key business results centered around people, customers, sales, and profit. This position demands a detailed-oriented approach to managing staff development through effective succession planning, performance management, and an open-door policy that fosters trust and transparency. Collaboration with the People Services Team is essential to resolve employee relations issues and ensure legal compliance within the restaurant. Customer satisfaction is a top priority, with the General Manager setting the standard for service excellence by addressing complex customer concerns directly and training staff to consistently meet or exceed expectations. Operational scheduling, food safety compliance, and the creation of a welcoming atmosphere for guests are crucial components of this role.
In addition to leadership responsibilities in managing team and customer dynamics, the General Manager plays an integral role in sales growth and profitability. This includes the implementation of marketing initiatives, analysis of sales trends, optimization of menu offerings, and the deployment of upselling techniques aimed at maximizing revenue opportunities. The position also requires continuous monitoring and analysis of financial metrics such as sales, labor costs, inventory management, and other controllables to ensure the achievement of margin goals. Financial oversight is coupled with periodic business reviews and budget management to identify cost-saving measures without compromising quality or service. The General Manager acts as a liaison with suppliers, negotiating contracts and managing inventory to maintain optimal stock levels and reduce waste.
This role requires a college degree or equivalent relevant work experience along with ServSafe Certification. Additional certifications in food safety, customer service, or leadership training are highly desirable. Candidates should have a minimum of four years' experience in restaurant operations, including supervisory or management roles, proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and hands-on experience with inventory and supply chain operations. Effective communication, time management, customer focus, problem-solving abilities, adaptability, and strong leadership integrity are essential skills for success. The position demands a flexible schedule including availability on days, nights, weekends, and holidays and may require travel to other locations for training and meetings. KFC Corporation is committed to equal employment opportunity, welcoming applicants from all backgrounds and ensuring fair hiring practices in compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
