Safta's Table is a casual, all-day café located in the Lakeview neighborhood of New Orleans. It offers a unique dining experience characterized by its inviting atmosphere reminiscent of a grandmother's kitchen—warm, familiar, and welcoming. The café provides counter service, family-style meals to-go, and serves many comforting dishes inspired by its sister restaurants, Safta and Saba. At Safta's Table, guests have the flexibility to stop in for a quick bite, pick up dinner to share at home, or enjoy a relaxed meal with friends and family within a cozy, friendly environment. The establishment is deeply rooted in community and culture, reflecting the rich culinary traditions of New Orleans while emphasizing soulful and approachable food that brings comfort and satisfaction to every guest.
Safta's Table operates under the umbrella of Pomegranate Hospitality, a company that values shared prosperity, resilience, accountability, and kindness. These core values shape the way the team works, leads, and serves, fostering a culture of growth, continuous improvement, and hospitality with purpose. The role of General Manager at Safta’s Table is a full-time position offering a salary of $70,000. This leadership position is essential in ensuring that these values manifest in daily business operations, employee interactions, and guest experiences.
The General Manager at Safta’s Table is entrusted with overseeing the complete spectrum of restaurant operations. This includes managing service and culinary teams, ensuring high-quality food and beverage standards, maintaining operational systems, and driving profitability. The position requires a hands-on approach to leadership and management and a commitment to fostering a cohesive and positive work environment. The General Manager collaborates closely with Pomegranate Hospitality's executive team to maintain smooth operations, manage resources efficiently, and uphold the standards that define Safta’s Table's reputation.
Key responsibilities include recruiting, hiring, and retaining talented team members for both service and culinary roles. The General Manager spearheads onboarding to guarantee new hires are well-integrated and aligned with company values and performance standards. Maintaining strong professional relationships and effectively managing employee morale are critical aspects of the role, promoting a workplace culture where accountability and teamwork thrive.
Operational duties cover daily management of restaurant functions, working collaboratively with the Director of Operations to handle building maintenance and repairs, approving invoices, overseeing inventory and product ordering, and ensuring cleanliness and food quality. The General Manager also ensures adherence to company protocols, POS systems, scheduling software, and delivery applications, training staff to proficiently use these tools and troubleshoot as necessary.
From a financial perspective, the General Manager is responsible for driving daily profitability through efficient labor management, inventory control, and sales initiatives. They review profit and loss statements, craft narratives that explain financial performance, and work to keep expenses within budget. Payroll oversight is crucial, with the Director of People & Culture processing payroll based on inputs from the General Manager. Controlling labor costs and identifying opportunities for revenue growth underpin the restaurant's financial health.
Guest service remains at the forefront of the role, with the General Manager personally supervising the dining room to ensure excellent production and delivery of food, beverages, and retail products. Engaging with guests directly to ensure satisfaction and uphold Pomegranate Hospitality’s commitment to service excellence is a vital part of the everyday responsibilities.
Ideal candidates bring 3-5 years of management experience in a high-volume setting, preferably within fast-casual or counter-service environments. A college degree—particularly a Bachelor of Science in Hotel/Restaurant Management—is preferred but not required if supplemented by practical experience. A passion for food, strong business acumen, and a proactive, can-do approach are essential attributes. Culinary training and leadership experience in kitchen operations are highly desirable. Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to work efficiently in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
Joining Safta's Table means becoming part of a close-knit family passionate about food, culture, and creating memorable, authentic dining experiences for guests. The General Manager has the unique opportunity to shape the restaurant's daily operations, influence its culture, and contribute meaningfully to the success and growth of a cherished New Orleans establishment.
