Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Administration, Business Administration or related field preferred
  • Three years of experience as a General Manager, Operations Manager or Director of Sales in extended stay hotels preferred
  • Ability to speak, read and write fluent English
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Mathematical skills including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages and variances
  • Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Opera systems preferred
  • Ability to travel including some overnight travel
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Frequently standing up, bending, climbing, kneeling and moving about the facility
  • Exposure to commercial cleaning chemicals
  • Carrying, lifting or pulling items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Frequently handling objects and equipment
  • Required to work mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • Deliver on the promise of Sonesta Service in all guest and client interactions
  • Manage according to Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards and instill passion for customer service in all hotel associates
  • Create processes and procedures to ensure the hotel is properly supplied and maintained
  • Manage direct sales activities and partner with Regional Sales Director and Global Sales Office to execute sales and marketing plans
  • Manage seasonal demand strategy in partnership with Regional Revenue Manager to maximize revenue through pricing and occupancy adjustments
  • Regularly sell hotel rooms through direct client contact
  • Establish and implement service recovery guidelines to ensure guest satisfaction
  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest complaints or concerns
  • Manage the Sonesta ES Suites brand positioning and marketing programs
  • Supervise front office, housekeeping, and food and beverage operations through the Operations Manager
  • Manage appearance and preventive maintenance of the physical property through the Maintenance Manager
  • Attend social events as a hotel management representative to prospect sales leads
  • Lead development, implementation, and monitoring of capital and operational budgets
  • Partner with Finance on financial variance analysis and reporting to ownership
  • Ensure proper management and reporting of financial transactions in partnership with General Ledger Accountant
  • Oversee physical building condition and related budgets in partnership with the National Engineering and Facilities Operations Manager
  • Manage recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, and offboarding of hotel associates with Human Resources representatives
  • Ensure proper management and maintenance of IT hardware and software in partnership with Information Technology representatives
  • Manage purchasing and procurement processes in accordance with company policies
  • Enforce hotel standards, policies, and procedures across departments
  • Act as manager on duty as needed
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws related to health, safety, and alcohol service
  • Perform other duties as assigned
