The role of the head coach at McDonald's, functioning as the General Manager, is critical to the restaurant's success. This position centers around strong people skills, as the manager spends nearly all of their time serving, coaching, correcting, training, retraining, inspiring, leading, and developing a diverse team of employees and ensuring customer satisfaction remains high. The General Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of restaurant operations, maintaining high standards of quality, service, value, and cleanliness in every part of the business, which is fundamental to McDonald's brand and operational philosophy. This role entails managing profit and loss by controlling cash flow, inventory management, scheduling labor effectively, reviewing financial statements, and implementing corrective actions to sustain profitability. Leadership duties include recruiting, training, developing outstanding team members, conducting performance appraisals, and enforcing adherence to McDonald's brand standards alongside company policies and procedures. The position requires flexible scheduling to meet the operational demands since McDonald's restaurants may operate 24 hours a day in some locations, 365 days a year.
