While McDonald’s USA is widely recognized as a global leader in the quick-service restaurant industry, the specific restaurant hiring for this position is not directly managed by McDonald’s USA but is instead operated by a franchisee who retains full control over all employment matters. This includes hiring, firing, scheduling, discipline, and general employee management. Therefore, the franchisee acts as the direct employer for candidates hired in this role.

This is an important distinction because prospective employees are encouraged to apply directly with the franchisee as McDonald’s USA does not intervene in any employment decisions and does not handle any part of the hiring process. The position available is that of General Manager, a senior leadership role critical to the success and profitability of a high-volume restaurant. The General Manager is responsible for ensuring the restaurant consistently meets McDonald’s key customer standards of Quality, Service, and Cleanliness, which are core to the brand’s promise and customer experience. Managing the restaurant to these high standards demands exceptional leadership, business acumen, and operational oversight.

In this role, the General Manager partners closely with their superiors and team members to establish clear operational goals and implements strategic plans to achieve those objectives efficiently. The General Manager leads a team of Department Managers, each focused on specific functional areas within the restaurant such as kitchen operations, customer service, and maintenance. By mentoring and guiding these Department Managers, the General Manager ensures cohesive teamwork, improved departmental performance, and ultimately, a better overall restaurant operation.

The role also involves talent acquisition and development responsibilities, including hiring, training, and coaching Department and Shift Managers to build a strong leadership pipeline. Candidates with prior general management experience in high-volume restaurants, especially within quick-service sectors, hospitality, or retail, are highly preferred. Age requirements stipulate that candidates must be at least 18 years old to qualify for management roles in corporate-owned restaurants.
