The role of General Manager at D1 Training Melbourne is a pivotal leadership position responsible for driving the success of the facility from its inception through to full operational status. Before opening, the General Manager will spearhead pre-sales activities, generating excitement within the local community, building strategic partnerships with schools, sports programs, and local businesses, and ensuring a full roster of memberships before the doors officially open. Recruitment and onboarding of a driven, high-performing team are also key responsibilities during this phase, along with setting the foundational culture that blends accountability, teamwork, and fun.
Once operational, the General Manager leads continual growth by coaching staff to deliver elite training experiences that uphold D1’s standards of excellence. They will manage weekly meetings focused on clarity, accountability, and continuous improvement, alongside overseeing the financial health of the facility through diligent budget and key performance indicator management. Compensation for this role includes a competitive base salary complemented by performance-based bonuses and profit-sharing opportunities that reflect the facility’s success, potentially reaching total earnings of $85K to $105K and beyond as the gym grows. Job Requirements
- Minimum of three years leadership experience in fitness, retail, military, or team-driven environments
- Passion and enthusiasm for health and fitness
- Persistence and coachability in sales
- Strong understanding of budgets and key performance indicators
- Positive and resilient mindset
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including first-in, last-out availability
- Problem-solving skills under pressure
