The Buffalo North branch of D1 Training is preparing for its grand opening, and this is a unique opportunity to join the company as its first General Manager in the area. The General Manager role at D1 Training Buffalo North is pivotal to the growth and success of the facility. This position is not just typical management; it requires an energetic leader ready to build a team, foster community ties, and create an exceptional member experience from the ground up. The General Manager will be deeply involved from the pre-launch phase through to full operations, shaping the culture, and establishing a high-performance team culture that embodies D1 Training’s core values.
At its core, the role involves leadership, sales, operational oversight, staff development, and financial management. The General Manager will spearhead pre-opening efforts by recruiting passionate fitness professionals, generating local interest, and closing memberships before doors officially open. Post-opening, the General Manager's focus shifts to maintaining a world-class facility where athletes feel challenged and supported while cultivating a positive and accountable team culture. This role demands a hands-on, visible leader who is not afraid to be on the floor coaching, engaging with members, and driving business results through relationship-building and operational excellence.
This position offers a competitive base salary with the potential for performance bonuses and profit sharing based on membership growth and profitability targets. Strong performers have the opportunity to earn $80K or more annually. Job Requirements
- Minimum three years of leadership experience
- passion for fitness and personal development
- ability to manage sales and close memberships
- strong business knowledge and financial acumen
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- availability to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
- valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Job Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience of 3 or more years in fitness, retail, military, or any team-driven environment
- passion for health, fitness, and personal growth
- strong business acumen with comfort in budgets, KPIs, and accountability
- ability to own sales and build authentic relationships
- energy, positivity, and resilience with zero tolerance for toxic behavior

Job Duties
- Lead all pre-sales efforts including building local relationships, driving leads, and closing memberships with confidence and enthusiasm
- represent D1 Buffalo in the community as the local ambassador
- recruit, hire, and onboard a high-performing team aligned with D1’s mission and values
- build early culture by modeling discipline, teamwork, and positivity
- lead and inspire staff to deliver an elite training experience
- grow member numbers by closing memberships
- facilitate weekly meetings and coach employees for accountability and improvement
- manage financial performance and meet monthly with ownership to review key metrics
- maintain a world-class facility and positive culture
- be a visible and engaged leader on the floor, in the office, and in the community
