Job Description
Rubio's is a leading fast casual restaurant chain specializing in fresh, high-quality Mexican cuisine. Known for its commitment to quality ingredients, exceptional customer service, and a vibrant dining atmosphere, Rubio's has built a strong reputation across its locations. The company is dedicated to delivering an outstanding guest experience through its core values and operational excellence. As a major player in the fast casual restaurant industry, Rubio's continually invests in its team members and leadership programs to foster a productive, enjoyable, and profitable work environment. This focus on people development, operational efficiency, and community engagement drives the brand's ongoing success and expansion.
The General Manager role at Rubio's is a pivotal leadership position responsible for overall restaurant operations, supporting a productive and profitable business environment. The General Manager leads by example, being personally accountable for the restaurant's success and ensuring all team members adhere to Rubio's CORE 10 standards. This position requires a strategic thinker and a hands-on leader who drives team member development, manages financial performance, and upholds safety, security, and guest relations. The General Manager controls the Profit and Loss (P&L) statement, manages the budget daily, and implements contingency plans for business changes. This position demands strong financial acumen, creativity in problem-solving, and the ability to analyze operational results to make necessary adjustments.
In addition to financial management, the General Manager actively seeks potential sales and marketing opportunities to maximize restaurant profit and build community relationships. Vendor management and quality control also fall under this role's responsibilities. Exceptional guest service is a priority, with the General Manager interacting directly with guests, resolving complaints, and coaching team members to maintain high service standards. Leadership presence in the dining area fosters an enjoyable atmosphere and ensures guest satisfaction through direct engagement.
The role involves comprehensive team member management, including hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, promoting, and disciplining staff. Effective communication of company policies, performance expectations, and operational procedures is essential. The General Manager controls staffing levels based on sales data and needs, recognizing talent for growth within the team. Operational excellence extends to food safety, inventory management, cash handling, and compliance with Rubio's standards. The General Manager dedicates most of their time to leadership responsibilities, focusing on team development and operational effectiveness rather than routine tasks, ensuring a motivated team and a thriving restaurant.
This role reports directly to the District Manager and requires collaboration with multiple internal departments and external community organizations. Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 55 lbs., work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, and manage various work environments such as indoor dining and outdoor events. Technology proficiency with computers, telephones, and industry-specific equipment is important for daily operations. The General Manager is a key influencer in Rubio's restaurant operations, poised to contribute significantly to the company’s continued growth and customer satisfaction.
