Job Description
Miguel's Jr. is a vibrant and community-focused quick-service restaurant (QSR) chain that prides itself on a deep commitment to the love of food, family, and service. Rooted in its core purpose, Miguel's Jr. fosters an environment where employees are more than just workers; they become family. This sense of family and team spirit is woven throughout the company culture, creating a workplace where everyone can grow, achieve their goals, and reach their full potential. Miguel's Jr. is dedicated to delivering not only outstanding food but also exceptional guest experiences and opportunities for personal and professional development.
Recognized for offering competitive compensation packages and a comprehensive range of benefits, Miguel's Jr. includes paid time off (PTO), paid sick leave (PSL), low-cost insurance options that cover medical, dental, and vision plans, company-paid life insurance, and a 401(k) plan with a remarkable company match. Employees also enjoy perks such as a one-year anniversary day and free employee shift meals. These benefits underscore Miguel's Jr.'s commitment to supporting its team members both inside and outside of the workplace.
The General Manager role at Miguel's Jr. is a pivotal leadership position responsible for the comprehensive operation of a QSR restaurant. This position serves as both the front and back of house leader, directly representing the brand within the community and ensuring the restaurant meets high standards of operational excellence, financial success, guest satisfaction, and team development. The General Manager oversees a diverse leadership team including Assistant General Managers (AGM), Shift Supervisors, and team members working in both back-of-house (BOH) and front-of-house (FOH) roles.
Key responsibilities include driving daily operational execution that delivers consistent quality food, speed, and service. The General Manager is accountable for managing all aspects of the restaurant’s operations, from adherence to company systems and procedures to overseeing financial performance metrics like sales, labor, food cost, and inventory control. This role also includes managing third-party delivery services to ensure food quality and guest service remain uncompromised through various channels.
On the training and leadership development front, the General Manager builds a strong leadership pipeline by actively training, coaching, and mentoring AGMs and Shift Supervisors. Ensuring all team members undergo proper onboarding and continuous skill development is essential. The role demands a hands-on leadership style with ongoing performance feedback and alignment with the company’s vision and values.
Service standards and compliance are critically important. The General Manager champions exceptional guest service by setting clear expectations and leading efforts to recover guest experiences when necessary. Ensuring full compliance with food safety standards, health regulations, Cal/OSHA guidelines, and wage and hour employment laws are also central to this position. Maintaining a safe, clean, and secure restaurant environment is mandatory, with ongoing attention to sanitation and safety protocols.
Team leadership activities include recruiting, interviewing, and retaining top talent, creating efficient work schedules that align with business needs, managing attendance and performance accountability, and cultivating a positive, inclusive, and respectful workplace where teamwork thrives.
In addition to overseeing safety and facility management—including security systems and maintenance coordination—this role involves effective communication and collaboration with area management and various support teams such as HR, Training, Operations, and Facilities. The General Manager must also actively represent the brand within the local community by supporting marketing and community engagement activities.
This position requires obtaining ServSafe Certification within 30 days of hire. The role is a full-time commitment that demands flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Miguel's Jr. promotes career advancement by prioritizing internal promotion, fostering long-term growth opportunities within the organization. This is not just a job but a career where leadership skills are developed and valued within a thriving family-oriented restaurant environment.
