Job Description

The role advertised is for a General Manager 5 at Jackson State University, a designated Historically Black Campus/University situated in Jackson, MS. This position involves overseeing a high-profile account in food retail and student dining, making it a showcase account within Sodexo Campus Dining. The role requires a dynamic and innovative leader capable of managing over 100 employees and implementing new concepts in campus dining. The General Manager will be responsible for delivering high-quality food services, achieving both company and client financial objectives, and developing strategic plans tailored to campus needs. The position emphasizes client relationship management and active participation in campus community events, making it a vital leadership role that blends operational excellence with community engagement.

The General Manager will lead team members through mentoring, training, and operational guidance, focusing on cash handling, safety, daily operations standards, and adherence to HACCP Safety Programs. They will also maintain strong partnerships with clients and key stakeholders, ensuring services align with client goals and expectations. Compensation is competitive and is determined by the candidate’s education level and relevant experience. Job Requirements

  • minimum education requirement - bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • minimum management experience - 5 years
  • minimum functional experience – 5 years

Job Qualifications

  • bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • successful track record of at least 3 - 5 years in senior leadership in a high volume dining environment
  • prior experience promoting national food brands and campus dining, preferably at an HBCU university
  • strong financial acumen including budget development, forecasting, monthly reporting
  • proven track record for solutioning and innovation to meet client goals and mission
  • proven client relationship and high-level customer service skills
  • strong employee engagement and diversity champion
  • history of strong leadership and excellent communication skills
