Job Description
Sodexo is a global leader in quality of life services, dedicated to enhancing the well-being of individuals and communities through an extensive range of integrated solutions including food services, facilities management, and other specialized services. With a mission to create a better everyday for everyone and build a better life for all, Sodexo partners with clients worldwide to deliver memorable experiences that positively impact both customers and employees. The company values diversity, equity, and inclusion, striving to foster a respectful and supportive workplace where all employees are empowered to be themselves and contribute meaningfully to the organization.
Sodexo is currently seeking a General Manager 4 for Environmental Services (EVS) to lead and oversee operations at Adventist Health Bakersfield, a prominent 300-bed acute care hospital serving Kern County for over a century. Adventist Health Bakersfield is renowned for providing high-quality emergency care, heart care, cancer care, orthopedics, spine care, and other critical medical services. Alongside this primary facility, the role extends oversight to Adventist Health Specialty Hospital, a specialized 47-bed institution focusing on heart and vascular diseases and a wide array of other medical and surgical procedures. Both hospitals are strategically located in close proximity to each other, providing comprehensive healthcare services to the community.
The General Manager 4 - Environmental Services will play a pivotal role in ensuring that both hospitals maintain exceptionally clean, safe, and welcoming environments for patients, visitors, and staff. This leadership position encompasses a broad scope of responsibilities including driving client and patient satisfaction through superior service delivery, closely collaborating with the Infectious Control department, and partnering with hospital leadership such as the Environment of Care Committee and the Infection Prevention Director. The role demands an executive presence backed by a client-service mentality and an ability to effectively manage operational systems to meet organizational goals.
Compensation for this role is fair and equitable, influenced by factors such as education, relevant experience, and demonstrated expertise. Sodexo also provides a comprehensive benefits package offering medical, dental, vision care, wellness programs, retirement plans, paid time off, and career development opportunities including tuition reimbursement. The General Manager 4 role suits a seasoned professional with experience in custodial and housekeeping management, particularly within healthcare settings, equipped with strong leadership, financial acumen, project management skills, and the ability to navigate vendor contracts and union negotiations effectively. This position offers a rewarding career path with a company committed to sustainability, inclusion, and community impact, making it an excellent opportunity for candidates seeking to contribute to a better quality of life at a respected healthcare institution.
