Job Description
Sodexo is a global leader in food services and facilities management, serving a diverse range of sectors including education, healthcare, and corporate environments. The company is committed to improving the quality of life for those it serves by delivering high-quality, innovative, and sustainable services. In the educational sector, Sodexo partners with K-12 school districts to provide comprehensive nutrition and food service programs that support healthy learning environments and enhance student well-being and academic performance. Operating with a strong emphasis on inclusivity and community impact, Sodexo’s mission extends beyond simple food provision—it aims to foster positive experiences that contribute to the growth and development of children.
This role is for a General Manager 3 of Child Nutrition within Sodexo, specifically focused on managing food services for a K-12 school district in the Lansing and Grand Rapids, Michigan region. The position offers a unique opportunity for an experienced leader passionate about child nutrition, school food service programs, and team development. As the General Manager, you will oversee the entire food service operations, ensuring alignment with district goals and client expectations while leading your team to deliver exceptional service.
You won’t just be managing daily operations; this role emphasizes innovation, client partnership, and continuous improvement. You will be instrumental in shaping the student experience by elevating the quality and appeal of meals served, integrating USDA regulations, and driving financial performance to meet company and client financial targets. The position requires someone who is motivated by making a difference in children’s lives, thrives on building strong client relationships, and demonstrates exceptional leadership in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Sodexo values a diverse and inclusive workforce, encouraging leaders to foster a positive work environment and ensure employee engagement and student satisfaction. The General Manager will act as a trusted advisor within the client’s organization, fully integrating with the client’s culture and working closely with school personnel to achieve mutual success. With a focus on compliance, operational excellence, and team empowerment, this role demands a professional who combines financial acumen with a passion for nutrition and education.
Compensation for this role is fair and equitable with salary offers based on the candidate’s experience, education, skills, and training. Sodexo also offers annual incentive packages along with comprehensive benefits to support the well-being and career growth of its employees. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision care, wellness programs, 401(k) plans with matching contributions, paid time off, company holidays, as well as opportunities for career growth and tuition reimbursement.
This position is ideal for candidates with at least three years of management experience in relevant school nutrition programs and a minimum of four years of functional experience in school nutrition settings. Strong financial skills, knowledge of USDA regulations, and the ability to drive employee engagement and student satisfaction are all vital. As a leader, you will be responsible for creating an exceptional client service experience, supporting a diverse team, and ensuring compliance with client contracts.
If you are excited by the challenge of leading a dynamic team in a mission-driven company, this Sodexo opportunity in Michigan offers a rewarding career path with scope for professional growth and meaningful impact on students’ lives.
