The General Manager (age 18+) role at Northgate Resorts is a full-time, pivotal position responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the camp-resort. Acting as the brand ambassador in the community, the General Manager ensures that all operational facets, from safety and guest satisfaction to financial management and team development, are handled efficiently. Reporting directly to the Regional Operations Manager, this leadership position demands a high level of management skill, a customer-centric approach, and the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team.

This position requires a strong focus on day-to-day operation management including maintaining safety protocols, exceptional customer service, and liaising between the home office and local operations. The General Manager is expected to monitor all operational aspects, including safety, wellness, staffing, and financial budgets, to maximize overall camp-resort performance and guest satisfaction.

People management forms a core component of this role, involving the development of management staff through consistent feedback and goal setting, implementing new systems and policies, and fostering a strong, motivated workforce. The General Manager will also be involved in hiring, training, and evaluating employees to maintain a well-prepared and customer-focused team.

Financial oversight is critical, with responsibilities including analysis of food, beverage, labor costs, and controllable expenses, coupled with initiatives to improve the camp-resort's financial results. They will also engage with vendors and manage capital projects to ensure operational excellence and continuous improvement.

This demanding yet rewarding position requires candidates to possess excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. The General Manager should be capable of working in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and maintain a positive and professional atmosphere among staff, guests, and vendors. Job Requirements

  • Ability to work long hours and weekends
  • Ability to be on call 24 hours a day during occasional periods

  • Must be able to work in a fast paced office environment and perform physical duties of those they supervise

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-5 years in a management position
  • Hospitality, hotel, or RV resort management experience is helpful but not required
  • Project or construction management experience preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal, motivational, and writing skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments

Job Duties

  • Establish expectations for effective presence through example and follow-up to support and observe operations
  • Maintain the safety and wellness of the facility and ensure appropriate follow-up
  • Ensure great customer service by coordinating daily operations
  • Organize and provide timely follow up on all requests from home office
  • Participate in other projects and activities as assigned
  • Develop all managers through consistent feedback and goal setting, leveraging internal processes and systems
  • Implement and enforce new or changed systems and policies, including communication to team members
  • Monitor and motivate staff
  • Attract, interview, hire, and train employees as part of workforce strategy
  • Evaluate performance and productivity
  • Ensure recruitment and retention of motivated and trained key personnel
  • Conduct financial analysis of food, beverage, labor costs, and controllable expenses with action plans to improve results
  • Analyze accounting and financial data to maximize revenue
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with labor, expense, and capital budgets
  • Engage with vendors and manage capital projects
