The General Manager role at Chipotle is a pivotal leadership position during a time of rapid expansion, with a new restaurant opening almost every day. As a General Manager, you will lead from the front by hiring and developing exceptional team members, fostering a winning culture, and driving operational success. This role is for leaders passionate about building teams, running high-performing restaurants, and delivering outstanding guest experiences. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the restaurant's operations, including recruitment, hiring, training, performance management, scheduling, P&L control, sales forecasting, and compliance with food safety and operational standards.
In this role, you will leverage Chipotle’s comprehensive training tools to develop crew members, shift leaders, and apprentices, ensuring that every team member is equipped to contribute to Chipotle’s outstanding service. You will oversee the employee life cycle, direct the team to meet speed, accuracy, and hospitality standards, and ensure that digital orders are fulfilled promptly and correctly. Your leadership will guarantee that the restaurant remains guest-ready, maintaining cleanliness and compliance to create a welcoming atmosphere.
This position requires a hands-on approach and a genuine passion for hospitality and people development. You will need to be creative and proactive in marketing and driving sales through community engagement and fundraisers. To successfully lead at Chipotle, you should bring previous restaurant management experience with a solid background in scheduling, P&L management, food safety, sales forecasting, and recruiting. The role involves working lunch, dinner, and weekend shifts to provide comprehensive leadership coverage.
Physically, the job is active and fast-paced, demanding the ability to stand and walk up to ten hours a day, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in varied temperature settings. It calls for strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and engage with guests. Job Duties
- Be guest obsessed - uphold top-notch standards of excellence and hospitality
- Ensure speed of service, accuracy, and positive guest obsessed experience
- Be responsible for the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment and hiring, people processes and performance management
- Train and develop crew members, shift leaders, and Apprentices, utilizing Chipotle’s training tools and resources
- Direct our team members to deliver accurate and on-time digital orders
- Be accountable for the day-to-day operational business of your restaurant (creating and managing a schedule, P&L control and management, sales-forecasting, recruiting and interviewing)
- Ensure the dining room remains clean and the restaurant is always guest-ready
- Uphold food safety, operational, and compliance standards
- Be accountable for overall financial success of the restaurant, achieving annual sales & cash flow plan
- Work a schedule that includes lunch, dinner, and weekend shifts to provide leadership across all hours of operation
