The General Manager (GM) role at Ulta Beauty is both dynamic and demanding, designed for an individual who thrives in fast-paced, results-oriented environments. The GM is the leader responsible for managing a single retail store, including the salon operations, and leading a team of managers and associates to deliver exceptional sales growth and guest experiences. This role requires a strategic mindset to blend the art of beauty with operational excellence and financial acuity.

In this role, the General Manager champions Ulta Beauty's mission, vision, and values by cultivating a high-performing team focused on meeting and exceeding sales and service goals. They play an essential role in driving the store's profitability through top-line sales growth, service excellence, and stringent expense control. Utilizing forecasting and payroll budgets, the GM ensures optimal scheduling, productivity, and workload management.

People leadership is a core element of the position, where the GM attracts, hires, retains, and nurtures diverse top talent. They address staffing needs efficiently, resolve policy violations with appropriate actions, and foster a collaborative, inclusive, and engaged team environment. The GM leads talent development initiatives, including training, coaching, performance reviews, succession planning, and individual career development to motivate their team and drive sales performance.

Process and policy compliance are critical to the GM's success. This leader must maintain a thorough understanding of all company policies, operating procedures, safety standards, and loss prevention practices, ensuring these are strictly followed at the store level. The GM uses company tools for scheduling and task management to guarantee an exceptional guest experience, operational efficiency, and adherence to corporate directives.

Ulta Beauty seeks a General Manager who has a passion for beauty, strong leadership skills, operational expertise, and a commitment to creating memorable guest interactions. This is a full-time role with a flexible schedule that includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. The GM must be willing to close the store at least once a week, travel for corporate meetings and conferences, and maintain valid identification for travel purposes.

Job Requirements

  • Work a flexible full-time schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be available to close the store at least once per week
  • Attend corporate business meetings and conferences including overnight stays and interstate travel
  • Maintain valid identification for airline travel
  • Frequent bending, pushing, lifting up to 25 lbs, and continuous walking during shifts
  • Proficient with retail technology and scheduling tools

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, 3-5+ years of fast-paced retail management or relevant work experience, Experience in financial management including driving sales and controlling expenses, Proven retail management skills including inventory monitoring and merchandising, Leadership experience in attracting and developing talent, Proficient with Point of Sale systems, Microsoft Office, and Apple devices, Excellent written and verbal communication, Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills, Strong organizational skills
