Job Description
Sonesta International Hotels stands as the 8th largest hotel company in the United States, rapidly expanding its footprint across the hospitality sector. With a uniquely diverse portfolio that includes full-service and focused hotels, Sonesta manages owned, franchised, and managed properties in major cities throughout the country. Beyond the impressive scale, Sonesta places a strong emphasis on the human side of hospitality, striving to create experiences that not only meet but exceed guest expectations. They blend quality service with passionate, loyal teams who are driven to connect authentically with every guest. Having a significant presence across over 1,000 properties in eight countries, Sonesta's commitment to quality and value has become synonymous with excellence in the hotel industry. Their motto "Together We Thrive" reflects their mission to consistently deliver amazing hospitality to every guest, every stay, reinforcing their reputation as a trusted brand globally.
The role of General Manager (GM) at Sonesta International Hotels is a pivotal leadership position responsible for the overall success and operational excellence of the hotel. As the onsite representative of Sonesta, the GM directly influences customer satisfaction, revenue growth, and cost control while ensuring service quality aligns with the company's standards. The GM works hand in hand with various internal teams across marketing, revenue management, sales, accounting, facilities, human resources, IT, and procurement to optimize hotel operations. This role requires a strategic visionary who is also hands-on, able to drive departmental collaboration and foster a culture where associates are motivated to deliver exceptional experiences.
The General Manager's responsibilities revolve around managing direct sales efforts, implementing seasonal demand strategies, and utilizing Sonesta's property management and reservation systems to maximize revenue. Additionally, they oversee guest service initiatives and hotel maintenance, ensuring all amenities and services meet the brand's high standards. Leading diverse teams in front office, housekeeping, food and beverage, engineering, and security, the GM ensures compliance with all regulations including health and safety standards. The role demands a balance between financial stewardship—capital and operational budget management—and human resource leadership, including recruiting, training, performance management, and employee wellbeing programs.
With an anticipated annual salary range of $190,000 to $220,000 plus bonuses, this full-time position also offers a comprehensive benefits package. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance; health savings accounts with company match; retirement plans with company match; paid vacation and sick days; educational assistance; parental leave; and more. Sonesta values equal opportunity in employment and encourages qualified individuals from diverse backgrounds to apply. The company champions a supportive work environment where both guests and associates thrive.
