Job Description

TGI Fridays is a globally recognized restaurant chain known for its casual dining experience that emphasizes vibrant atmosphere, exceptional food, and engaging customer service. With a strong presence in the casual dining restaurant industry, TGI Fridays focuses on delivering high-quality dishes and a unique Fridays Service Style experience that keeps guests coming back. The establishment prides itself on maintaining consistent brand standards, supporting its team, and creating memorable dining moments. The company values integrity, respect, and accountability, aligning with a clear Credo and Values framework guiding employee conduct and guest interactions.

The role of General Manager at TGI Fridays is a pivotal leadership position responsible for managing the overall restaurant operations to ensure an unparalleled guest experience. The position involves leading and supervising a team of Restaurant Managers and Front of House (FOH) and Back of House (BOH) Team Members, with direct oversight of 3 to 6 Managers. As General Manager, the individual is accountable for not only customer satisfaction but also robust financial performance, including managing profit and loss centers, budgets, and projections. The role also includes mentoring, coaching, and developing team members, emphasizing talent selection, training, and growth to build effective and high-performing teams.

A major component of the role involves maintaining TGI Fridays' standards by adhering to and promoting operational theories such as the Bubble Theory and Hamburger Stand Theory to proactively manage shifts and ensure staff readiness and guest needs are anticipated and met. This position also plays a key role in implementing local store marketing initiatives and national promotions, driving sales growth, traffic, and repeat guest visits while fostering a safe, clean, and inclusive environment.

Guest interaction is vital, requiring frequent engagement to ensure guests receive excellent service and addressing any complaints or concerns promptly to enhance satisfaction and loyalty. The General Manager is also responsible for all administrative tasks, including financial, personnel, and payroll duties, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal standards. Inventory control, safety protocols, and security measures to protect staff, guests, and company assets are other critical functions.

Key decision-making responsibilities include hiring and termination of Team Members, wage increase approvals, and handling employee and guest relations issues often in partnership with HR and Director of Operations. The General Manager influences promotions, sales growth strategies, and budget creation. Success in this role is measured by guest satisfaction, revenue growth, cost control, staffing stability, and team development.

The ideal candidate holds a preferred four-year college degree and has a minimum of two years' experience as a Kitchen Manager or Assistant General Manager, with in-depth knowledge of TGI Fridays' recipes, standards, and operational theories. Business acumen related to financial management and proficiency in point of sale and back office systems are essential. Physical requirements include the ability to stand and walk throughout shifts, lift up to 30 pounds, and communicate effectively in English in a noisy environment.

Competencies integral to the role include talent selection and retention, performance guidance, inspirational leadership adhering to the company’s credo and values, adaptability to manage change, excellent communication skills, disciplined execution of standards, a guest-centric focus, financial savvy, and strong problem-solving capabilities. A General Manager at TGI Fridays represents the brand by setting high standards, motivating teams, managing resources efficiently, and ensuring each guest enjoys a memorable dining experience. The position offers a wage of up to $15 per hour and is ideal for driven leaders passionate about hospitality management and team development.
