With a workforce of over 7,000 team members, the company is known for fostering an environment where employees thrive professionally and personally, supported by a strategic focus on quality and service. As one of the fastest-growing companies in its industry, Metz Culinary Management emphasizes strong leadership, innovative dining solutions, and a customer-centric approach that distinguishes it from competitors.
The Food Service Director/General Manager position available at Daytona State College in Daytona Beach, Florida, represents a fantastic opportunity for experienced professionals passionate about institutional dining. This is a full-time, permanent role with a competitive salary ranging from $85,000 to $95,000 annually and eligibility for bonuses. The position demands someone with a mentoring leadership style, polished communication skills, and robust technical competencies, including expertise with digital ordering, inventory management systems, and digital human resources onboarding platforms.
The Director will oversee multi-outlet dining operations, including cafes, retail spots, coffee shops, and catering services. This role involves comprehensive management responsibilities encompassing menu planning, purchasing, employee development, scheduling, bookkeeping, customer and client relations, food preparation oversight, and sanitation compliance. The General Manager will report directly to Client Administration and the District Manager, steering the overall success and operational excellence of the food service locations. Experience in contract dining, particularly in a university or hospital setting, is highly desirable, as is a strong background in retail sales and POS systems.
Given the university environment, this position offers the chance to manage high-volume, fast-paced food service operations while working alongside a supportive and dynamic team. The ideal candidate must possess a proven track record in leading teams through recruitment, retention, and employee engagement programs while implementing menu innovations that emphasize presentation and quality. Metz Culinary Management values candidates who bring energy, vision, and a customer-focused mindset to their leadership approach. This role not only requires technical and operational skills but also a passion for cultivating a positive, enriching workplace culture in alignment with the company’s core values.
Working at Metz Culinary Management guarantees exposure to cutting-edge industry practices, career growth opportunities, and the ability to influence dining experiences within an educational institution setting. The company promotes ongoing personal development and encourages staff to embody its dedication to excellence.
