The company is currently seeking a dedicated General Manager to lead one of its restaurant locations. This full-time position typically requires 50 to 55 hours per week and offers an opportunity for career advancement through the Franchise Partner Program, which enables top-performing managers to potentially own and operate their own Steak 'n Shake franchise with financial compensation up to $65,000.

As a General Manager at Steak 'n Shake, you will take on a pivotal leadership role, going beyond traditional management by actively participating in daily operations. This hands-on leadership approach means you will not only direct but also work alongside your team on the line, supervise food prep, ensure cleanliness, and provide excellent guest service. You are expected to lead by example, wearing a professional uniform daily that sets a standard for team presentation and reinforces the brand's commitment to professionalism and quality.

Operational excellence is key to this role, overseeing and ensuring consistency across all shifts including opening, mid-day, and closing. Upholding brand standards, food safety protocols, and service guidelines is paramount. Financially, you will own the profit and loss responsibilities, managing food costs, controlling inventory, verifying invoices, and minimizing waste to maximize profitability. Labor efficiency is another critical component, where effective scheduling, cross-training, and versatile staffing help maintain cost controls and high productivity.

Inventory management is comprehensive, controlling supplies from receipt to frontline use, conducting regular counts, and maintaining strong vendor relationships to ensure accuracy and minimize shrinkage. Developing and nurturing a high-quality team is essential, with responsibilities including recruiting, training, and retaining top hourly talent. You'll foster a culture of hospitality, accountability, and consistent performance, providing clear feedback and coaching that aligns with operational goals.

Performance metrics such as speed of service, food quality, guest satisfaction, and labor costs guide decisions, supported by reinforcing standard operating procedures that create repeatable success.
