Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years experience as an AGM or 3 years hotel operations supervisory experience with strong food and beverage background
  • 2 years experience in direct sales or retail trade or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive to customer appointments
  • Excellent computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and property management systems
  • Strong communication, presentation, organization, time management and listening skills
  • Ability to use analytical skills to measure business potential and value to the hotel
  • Ability to interact successfully with all levels of customers and hotel management
  • Physical ability to speak and hear in English, frequent sitting, walking and standing, lifting up to 20 lbs, ability to work overtime and irregular hours

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in hotel management and/or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an AGM and/or 3 years hotel operations experience in a supervisory capacity with a strong food and beverage background
  • 2 years of experience in direct sales or retail trade or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Possess a valid driver's license and be able to drive to customer appointments

Job Duties

  • Recruit, onboard, develop, set schedules, and manage associates to drive productivity and efficiency while maintaining a positive atmosphere
  • Promote strong two-way communication across departmental lines to create a team environment amongst employees
  • Create and maintain employee recognition systems and strategies to reward excellence, retain top talent, and foster career development
  • Lead the preparation, development and implementation of the annual budget for a hotel with strong government travel demand, meeting space with food and beverage operations, and located in the DC Metro area
  • Develop short term and long term financial and operational plans to support the overall objectives of the annual budget and management
  • Ensure compliance with established company policies and procedures and local, state, and federal laws and regulations
  • Continuously monitor the performance of the hotel through analysis of guest satisfaction systems and monthly financial reports
  • Develop new programs which result in an increased level of guest satisfaction and operational excellence or initiate corrective actions for nonperformance
  • Drive operational excellence through process improvement, proactive planning, and service recovery initiatives
  • Establish and maintain a pro-active human resource function to ensure employee motivation, training and development, wage/benefit administration and compliance with labor regulations
  • Maintain preventative maintenance programs to protect hotel physical assets
  • Maintain a security function to protect hotel assets and personal safety of employees and guests
  • Implement and maintain local and national sales/marketing/revenue commercial programs
  • Develop sales action plans and evaluate local and national trends to create strategies that enhance revenues
  • Represent the hotel within the Arlington and hospitality communities
  • Other duties as assigned
