With a strong emphasis on sustainability, diversity, and inclusion, Sodexo fosters an empowering workplace culture where employees are valued and encouraged to contribute their unique perspectives. The company’s approach centers on innovation, operational excellence, and client partnership, creating environments that support success and well-being. Sodexo's dedication to social and environmental progress makes it a forward-thinking employer and trusted partner across industries.
The position of General Manager 1 - Conference Center at Sodexo is a prestigious opportunity based at the Fannie Mae headquarters in Washington, DC. This role demands a dynamic hospitality leader who excels in managing high-profile events and delivering memorable experiences to executive-level clients, particularly C-Suite executives. As the Director of Events, you will oversee the full spectrum of conference center operations including event planning, catering, and banquets. Leading a team of approximately 10 hourly employees, you will serve as the primary liaison with Fannie Mae stakeholders and collaborate with cross-functional departments such as front desk services, housekeeping, audiovisual technology, finance, HR, sales, and marketing to ensure impeccable service delivery.
This position is both strategic and operational, emphasizing service excellence, client relationship building, and innovative enhancements to event experiences. A critical aspect of the role includes mentoring management and event teams, managing unionized staff, and playing a vital role in the success of one of Sodexo’s most high-profile accounts. The work schedule primarily follows a Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM pattern, with occasional evening events, aligning with the demands of enterprise-level meeting and event management. Candidates with strong experience in catering, banquet services, client dining, and AV/event management systems will find this role particularly rewarding.
Sodexo offers competitive compensation reflective of candidates’ education and experience. The company also provides a comprehensive benefits package aimed at supporting employees’ health, financial security, and career growth. By promoting an inclusive culture that values diversity and respect, Sodexo ensures every team member can thrive personally and professionally while contributing to the company’s mission of creating better everyday experiences.
