This job opportunity is with a well-established company located in Newington, CT, that specializes in industrial plant maintenance and operations. Known for its commitment to maintaining high production standards and ensuring a safe and efficient working environment, the company plays a vital role in supporting the manufacturing and production sectors. Operating Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with on-call hours as needed, this is an in-person role designed for individuals who are hands-on, detail-oriented, and ready to contribute to all aspects of facility maintenance and repair.
The Maintenance Technician role is an essential position within the company, focusing on general maintenance services and repairs. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing minor general maintenance tasks across multiple disciplines including plumbing, welding, carpentry, painting, plastering, electrical work, and vehicle servicing. The role emphasizes versatility and a proactive approach to maintenance, requiring the technician to perform preventive maintenance, assist in assembling or repairing racks, office furniture, and cubicles, and operate machinery such as snowplows, forklifts, and lifts as directed. This position demands readiness to respond to after-hours emergencies, including roof repairs, snow removal, and sprinkler pipe breaks, showcasing the company’s prioritization of rapid and effective response to protect assets and maintain operational continuity.

Job Requirements
- trade school diploma or equivalent
- 1-2 years experience in general maintenance service and repairs
- valid driver’s license
- clean driving record

- ability to use hand and power tools including standard and metric wrenches and sockets screwdrivers electric meter saws drills electric sander grinder and welders
- ability to operate snowplows snow blowers forklifts and lifts
- comfortable working at heights of 25 to 30 feet
Job Duties
- perform minor general maintenance service and repairs including plumbing welding carpentry painting plastering electrical or vehicle servicing as directed
- perform preventive maintenance as directed
- assemble and repair racks and assemble office furniture and cubicles
- operate snowplows forklifts and lifts as directed
- be available off hours for emergencies such as roof work snow removal or sprinkler pipe breaks
- maintain production standards and report any production quality or safety problems immediately
- comply with company rules and regulations
- maintain confidentiality of company-sensitive data
- recommend methods to reduce cost or improve efficiency
- keep supervisor informed of activities affecting goals
- perform other duties as required
