Creative Dining Services is currently seeking dependable, hardworking general food service workers to join their team at Indiana University Southeast in New Albany, IN. This opportunity is available for both part-time and full-time employment, with flexible AM and PM shifts to accommodate a variety of schedules. The general food service worker role is integral to the daily operations of food preparation and service, offering a broad range of responsibilities that include setting up service areas, preparing meals and beverages, serving food, and maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards. Employees in this role contribute directly to the customer experience by ensuring that food stations are properly stocked, food is served at appropriate temperatures and portions, and the overall dining environment is clean and inviting.

This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy a fast-paced work environment that requires both teamwork and individual accountability. General food service workers will operate various kitchen and bakery equipment as needed and may also assist with cashiering duties when required. The role demands a proactive approach to maintaining work areas and the ability to follow detailed instructions to meet the specific needs of each service area. Ideal candidates will have at least a high school diploma or equivalent, basic reading and math proficiency, and the ability to communicate effectively in the primary language used by guests.

Job Duties

  • Set up food service, kitchen, or salad area facilities, equipment and utensils under detailed instruction
  • check food temperatures and prepare areas for daily operations
  • operate cooking or bakery equipment as assigned
  • prepare or assist in the preparation of hot and cold meals and beverages
  • serve food items to customers from counters and steam tables, ensuring appropriate portions
  • replenish foods, silverware, glassware, dishes, and trays at serving stations
  • order and replenish condiments
  • clean and maintain work areas including floors, facilities, dishes, utensils, and equipment
  • collect and place garbage and trash in designated containers as appropriate
  • wash pots, pans, and other serviceware ensuring sanitary handling
  • organize and replace serviceware
  • perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
