The role being offered is a full-time, non-management position in the Engineering and Facilities department at the Courtyard by Marriott in San Antonio. This role involves the critical responsibility of performing planned preventive maintenance in guest rooms, meeting rooms, and public areas to ensure the utmost quality and safety standards are upheld throughout the hotel property. The position requires a hands-on approach to ensure that all guest rooms are well-maintained, clean, and welcoming for every visitor. It involves inspecting and assembling bed frames, vacuuming and stain removal, dusting, furniture touch-ups, minor repairs, and the replacement of lighting fixtures and accessories. In addition to routine maintenance tasks, the role includes communicating promptly about any serious maintenance issues or safety hazards to management.

This position demands physical stamina, requiring employees to be standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods and to handle the movement and lifting of objects weighing up to 50 pounds, sometimes with assistance for heavier items. Adherence to company safety policies and procedures, neat personal appearance, strict confidentiality, and positive guest interactions are essential in this role. The candidate will also need to perform general cleaning of each room's surfaces, including bathtubs, tiles, floors, walls, windows, and mirrors, ensuring everything not only meets but exceeds Marriott's quality benchmarks.

Job Duties

  • perform planned preventive maintenance in guest rooms, meeting rooms and public areas
  • inspect and assemble bed frames
  • vacuum and remove stains from carpets and upholstery
  • dust and touch up paint and furniture
  • replace lighting fixtures and inspect grout and caulking
  • carry out minor miscellaneous repairs such as fixing loose toilet seats and filling holes in walls
  • thoroughly clean all surfaces in guest rooms including tubs, tiles, floors, walls, windows and mirrors
  • promptly report serious maintenance issues or safety hazards to management
  • comply with company safety policies and procedures
  • maintain neat and professional appearance
  • ensure confidentiality and protect company property
  • recognize and anticipate guest needs and provide excellent service
  • maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and support team goals
