Job Description
This opportunity is presented by an established medical practice specializing in gastroenterology located in Napa, California. Napa is renowned not only for its exceptional wine country lifestyle but also for its scenic natural beauty and serene Mediterranean climate, making it an attractive place to live and work. For healthcare professionals seeking a balance between a fulfilling career and an enviable quality of life, this outpatient-focused gastroenterology position offers the perfect blend. This practice prides itself on strong support staff dedicated to ensuring patient care is efficient and comprehensive. The team structure includes one medical assistant, one physician assistant or nurse practitioner, and three office staff members, which creates a well-supported environment essential for delivering high-quality medical services.
As a full-time, permanent gastroenterologist within this practice, you will be immersed in a patient-centered environment designed to facilitate consistent and manageable patient volumes, approximately 12 patients per shift. The role involves a call schedule of seven to ten days per month, which is designed to strike a balance between professional responsibility and personal time. Utilizing the Epic electronic medical records system, the practice ensures streamlined, organized clinical documentation. The trauma level associated with this position is III, indicating a setting prepared to handle significant medical situations. Importantly, candidates must be either board eligible at a minimum or board certified, ensuring that the highest standards of professional competence and patient safety are maintained.
Your clinical responsibilities will include performing a broad spectrum of gastroenterology procedures essential to comprehensive patient care. This encompasses upper GI endoscopy techniques involving biopsies, foreign body removal, cautery or laser treatment for bleeding, injection therapy for varices, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG), and small bowel biopsies. The role also requires competency in lower GI endoscopy procedures such as colonoscopies with biopsies and polyp excisions. Additionally, although not mandatory, preferred skills include proficiency in endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes, flexible and rigid sigmoidoscopy, and the management of specialized devices like the Sengstaken-Blakemore tube. This breadth of procedural expertise is essential for providing exceptional care while addressing complex gastroenterological conditions.
The compensation for this role is competitive, reflecting the expertise required and the value placed on high-caliber medical professionals. Napa itself is a wonderful location not just professionally but lifestyle-wise, offering access to upscale dining, rich arts and cultural scenes, and a relaxed yet vibrant community ambiance. Its proximity to the San Francisco Bay Area means that professionals can enjoy the benefits of a quieter life without sacrificing access to metropolitan conveniences. This position is ideal for gastroenterologists looking to advance their careers within an established practice that values quality patient care, professional development, and a supportive work environment. By joining this team, you will contribute positively to a community immersed in health and well-being while enjoying the unique advantages that Napa has to offer.
