Job Description

The Sioux Falls Stampede is a distinguished Tier I junior hockey team based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. As a proud member of the United States Hockey League (USHL), the Stampede has cemented its reputation as one of the premier organizations in junior hockey. The team has garnered numerous prestigious accolades, including six USHL Organization of the Year Awards and a recent fourth Clark Cup Championship during the 2025-26 season. Home games are played at the state-of-the-art Denny Sanford PREMIER Center, a venue that consistently ranks among the nation’s leaders in attendance across junior, collegiate, and semi-professional hockey. With over 40 former players advancing to the NHL, the Sioux Falls Stampede is recognized not only for competitive excellence but also for player development at the highest level.

This internship opportunity is designed for students and recent graduates eager to launch their careers in the sports industry, specifically within sports entertainment and event operations. The Game Day Promotions Intern will work closely with the Director of Game Operations to help create an unforgettable fan experience during Stampede home games. This hands-on role provides invaluable exposure to the operational, promotional, and entertainment aspects of junior hockey. Interns will be deeply involved in the execution of game day events, including setting up and tearing down promotional materials, coordinating in-game and on-ice promotions, supporting sponsorship activations, and interacting with fans to enhance their overall experience.

The Stampede culture fosters a fast-paced, dynamic, and fun work environment where interns can thrive, develop new skills, and build a professional network within the sports industry. With the chance to participate in approximately 30 home games through nights, weekends, and holidays, interns will gain firsthand knowledge of live event management and fan engagement, making this an outstanding resume builder for aspiring sports professionals. The internship not only focuses on work experience but also encourages a positive and energetic attitude, teamwork, and a commitment to creating exceptional memories for fans. Interviews start in mid-July, followed by orientation in mid to late September, with the home game schedule commencing in early October. This is a unique opportunity to work behind the scenes with a championship-caliber team, contributing meaningfully to each game day and gaining insights into the sports and entertainment industry like never before.
