Job Description

Michigan State University (MSU) is a globally recognized institution that boasts an extensive and passionate athletics program. Among the highlights are the powerhouse programs in football, basketball, and hockey, each of which attracts thousands of fans and students to Spartan Stadium and other venues throughout the fall season. MSU prides itself on fostering a community atmosphere anchored in school spirit, excellence, and teamwork. Supporting these events are dedicated staff members who ensure that game day operations run smoothly and that every fan enjoys an outstanding experience from the moment they arrive. The event support staff play a crucial role in creating this immersive atmosphere by providing high-quality food service and customer engagement. The positions open for the upcoming fall season include concession cashiers, prep cooks, dishwashers, premium runners, and warehouse support personnel. These roles offer valuable on-the-job experience in a dynamic and vibrant environment where collaboration, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive under pressure are essential. Employment through Bluecrew at MSU sporting events presents an excellent opportunity for students and community members seeking flexible, event-based work. Positions such as concession cashiers and prep cooks require a Servsafe certification to ensure food safety standards are rigorously upheld. Other roles, including dishwashers, premium runners, and warehouse support, play pivotal roles behind the scenes to keep operations efficient and timely. All roles demand a commitment to teamwork, professionalism, and a positive, customer-focused attitude. Working at MSU’s sporting events is not just a job but an immersive experience in college athletics culture that is both rewarding and engaging. As part of the team, employees must be physically capable of standing, moving, and performing tasks that may require bending, crouching, and lifting throughout their entire shift. Cleanliness and adherence to good manufacturing practices (GMP) are mandatory for food handling positions to maintain the highest hygiene standards. This includes keeping hair up, maintaining trimmed fingernails, and covering facial hair when required. Dress codes usually call for practical attire such as close-toed shoes and pants to ensure safety and professionalism. The employment type is temporary, tied strictly to the event schedule for the fall sports season with shifts based on game days. This provides flexibility for students or part-time workers who want to fit work around their academic or personal schedules. Compensation is competitive for event-based roles and aligns with the commitment and energy required for high-volume, fast-paced game day service. Working with the Bluecrew platform, employees benefit from a streamlined schedule and payment system designed for gig-style event work. If you are looking to be part of a storied athletics department, interact with thousands of energetic fans, and gain valuable food service or event staff experience, these positions at Michigan State University’s football, basketball, and hockey games present an unmatched opportunity.
