Benjamin Banneker Middle School is currently seeking a full-time Cafeteria Manager IV to efficiently manage the secondary school cafeteria operations. The position requires managing a ten-month schedule, working full-time during the school year with an 8-hour day shift. The Cafeteria Manager will oversee food preparation in large quantities, supervise cafeteria staff, and maintain the financial integrity of the food service program by managing food inventories, ordering supplies, and handling cashiering and bank deposits.

The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in supervisory roles within food service operations, especially in institutional or school settings. This position demands a current MCPS Cafeteria Manager Test certification and a sanitation certification, both mandatory for compliance and safety standards. The successful applicant will demonstrate strong communication and leadership skills, able to train and conduct performance evaluations of cafeteria workers. This opportunity offers an hourly wage ranging from $26.47 to $38.15, depending on years of service, with additional compensation for authorized overtime when needed. The position also requires a valid Maryland noncommercial Class C driver’s license for duties involving daily banking tasks. Job Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent
  • Completion of food service supervisory training programs
  • Supervisory experience in large-quantity food preparation
  • Current MCPS Cafeteria Manager Test certification
  • Sanitation certification
  • Valid Maryland noncommercial Class C driver’s license
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing 40-60 pounds
  • Availability to work overtime as needed

Job Qualifications

Job Duties
