As a licensed Funeral Director within this organization, the role is pivotal in facilitating funeral arrangements and presiding over visitation, funeral, and graveside services. The position carries the responsibility of ensuring compliance with all mortuary, health, and vital statistics regulations, making it both a leadership and caregiving role. The Funeral Director acts as a master of ceremonies during services, coordinating every detail in line with the family’s wishes and contractual agreements, and ensuring the respectful handling of the deceased at all times.

In this role, you will conduct arrangement conferences where you interact directly with the deceased’s next of kin, demonstrating genuine empathy while discussing and confirming services, schedules, and additional offerings such as life insurance benefits and merchandise options. You will work closely with Funeral Services Counselors or Advisors to finalize cemetery property and merchandise selections, and sometimes, you may also take on those responsibilities yourself when necessary.

The role also encompasses overseeing event planning, including organizing music, flowers, catering, memorial products, and other related arrangements. You’ll ensure that all event logistics are prepared beforehand and that post-event cleanup and family memorabilia delivery are handled seamlessly. Occasionally, you might participate in community or charity events to represent the company and build meaningful community relations.

Should embalming be a part of your duties, you will perform this with the utmost care and professionalism, verifying identification, completing embalming according to company standards, and ensuring safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials. You will maintain preparation room cleanliness and manage supply inventories to support smooth operations.

This position requires an individual who is process and results-oriented, self-motivated, and skilled at building trusting professional relationships. Strong communication skills, including public speaking and proficient use of technology such as databases and MS Office, are essential for success. The work environment includes both indoor and outdoor settings requiring professional attire and physical tasks such as lifting and standing for extended periods, with flexibility in work hours to accommodate services outside normal business hours.
