The role of an Ambassador at Chancellor Funeral Home is vital in ensuring smooth execution of funeral and memorialization events. This position serves as the welcoming face to client families and their guests, guiding them through the funeral experience with grace and professionalism. Ambassadors assist Funeral Directors and other staff with various tasks designed to exceed client expectations and maintain the highest standards of service. Responsibilities include greeting and directing guests, managing visitor materials such as guest books and memorial items, answering questions, and attending to the needs of families and visitors throughout the visitation and memorial events.

Additionally, the Ambassador oversees the presentation and upkeep of public spaces such as chapels, lobbies, restrooms, and reception areas to provide a clean and inviting atmosphere. They coordinate parking arrangements for family and ceremonial vehicles and assist with transportation to and from service locations when necessary. Beyond these duties, Ambassadors represent Chancellor Funeral Home to the community, embodying the company’s values of honesty, integrity, and ethical behavior while building trust and loyalty among clients and colleagues alike.

Job Requirements

  • Four-year degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
  • At least 1-year experience in funeral arranging preferred
  • Able to read, write and speak English fluently
  • Attend and perform work in a professional and courteous manner in accordance with the employer's requirements
  • Demonstrated willingness to participate in growing market share through personal community involvement
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
  • Ability to empathize with client families and their guests and demonstrate tact and patience in emotionally charged situations
  • Ability to actively respond to the requests of the client families and their guests
  • Tactful and professional when dealing with complaints or dissatisfaction with services or merchandise
  • Maintains a positive attitude and working environment through organization and communication
  • Ability to simultaneously handle multiple projects, prioritizes tasks, and exercise good judgment
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Greets and directs client families and their guests to the correct chapel in which services are being held
  • Directs visitors to guest book and distributes memorialization materials as needed
  • Answers questions and assists with serving the needs of the client families, their guests, and other visitors during the visitation and memorialization event
  • Receives and places flowers in chapels
  • Ensures refreshments are available to client families and their guests
  • Ensures that public spaces such as lobby, chapels, restrooms and reception/rest areas are clean and prepared prior to, and at the conclusion of, scheduled services
  • Oversees parking area and ensures family and ceremonial vehicles are arranged for formal procession
  • Assists with directing and/or transporting families and service attendees to and from service locations outside of the funeral home
  • Actively serves as an ambassador of the business in the community to build trust and loyalty
  • Represents the business in a professional, honest and ethical manner at all times
  • Maintains a professional personal appearance and demeanor while performing duties or representing the business
  • Other duties as assigned
