Job Description
The Alzheimer’s Association is a premier non-profit organization dedicated to Alzheimer's care, support, and research, recognized as a leader in the fight against Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. With a mission focused on accelerating global research, reducing risk through early detection, and maximizing quality care, the Association has made a landmark $100 million investment in research for 2023 alone. This considerable funding underscores the momentum and commitment toward breakthroughs in dementia research that will benefit future generations. Established with a vast network of over 1,900 employees across the United States, the Association is a beacon for those affected by Alzheimer’s, offering hope, resources, and advocacy. Their inclusive work environment is evidenced by being named a Best Place to Work for twelve consecutive years, reflecting their dedication to their employees and the communities they serve. The organization is also committed to health equity, ensuring that every community, especially historically underserved populations, have fair access to early diagnosis, care, and education to combat the disease’s disproportionate effects.
The role of Manager, Walk to End Alzheimer’s, is a prestigious and impactful position within this vital organization. This role is entrusted with overseeing the Walk to End Alzheimer’s events in Springfield, Miami, and Shelby Counties in Ohio, with the position based in the downtown Dayton office. The Manager joins an elite team of leaders responsible for implementing the world's largest fundraiser for Alzheimer's care, support, and research — Walk to End Alzheimer’s®. In fact, this event ranks as the second-largest peer-to-peer fundraising event in the United States and is recognized for its rapid growth nationwide. The Manager will leverage strong networking and relationship-building skills to cultivate critical community connections, engage corporate leaders, and empower a sustainable and motivated volunteer committee. Their leadership helps generate excitement and enthusiasm around the Walk, driving growth and increasing annual revenue through strategic outreach and stewardship.
The Manager is responsible for high-level volunteer recruitment, training, and coaching, ensuring team goals and revenue targets are met year over year. This includes building and maintaining relationships with key volunteers, participants, sponsors, corporate partners, and community leaders. They oversee the entire scope of the Walk event's volunteer committee development, marketing, budgeting, logistics, and best practice implementation. The role involves frequent travel within the Miami Valley region and occasional travel to other areas like the Greater Cincinnati office, reflecting the job's community-oriented nature and outreach demands. The incumbent must be comfortable working nights and weekends as the walk events and related activities typically occur during these periods. Additionally, the role provides opportunities for advocacy and public policy participation, representing the Alzheimer's Association at public functions, conferences, and media engagements.
This full-time exempt position offers a competitive salary range between $55,000 to $60,000, with the potential for performance-based incentives up to $13,000. Working 37.5 hours per week, the Manager reports directly to the Director of Development. Beyond a salary, employees can anticipate a robust benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans among others. This position is ideal for a confident, goal-oriented self-starter with experience in peer-to-peer fundraising or sales, a passion for volunteer leadership, and a commitment to making a meaningful contribution to the fight against Alzheimer’s disease. Joining the Alzheimer's Association means becoming part of a mission-driven organization dedicated to changing lives through research and care, with a supportive and inclusive work culture that values diversity and professional growth.
