Job Description
Wintrust Financial Corporation is a multifaceted financial institution that has established a strong presence across the United States, particularly known for its comprehensive community and commercial banking services. Operating through 16 distinct bank charters and nine non-bank subsidiaries, Wintrust delivers a robust mix of specialty finance and wealth management services. Headquartered in Rosemont, Illinois, the company boasts over $66 billion in assets and earns its place on the NASDAQ Global Select Market under the ticker symbol WTFC. It operates more than 200 branch locations across key regions including Illinois, southwestern Florida, northwestern Indiana, west Michigan, and southern Wisconsin. Commercial banking offices are strategically located in major cities such as Chicago, Denver, Milwaukee, Grand Rapids, and throughout Illinois, ensuring a wide-reaching footprint that serves clients in all 50 states.
Wintrust is deeply committed to the principles of community banking, blending sophisticated, large-bank solutions with personalized, relationship-driven service. The institution continually fosters a culture that values its employees, which has helped it consistently earn accolades as a top workplace. The company offers a collaborative and inclusive working environment where career growth is encouraged through a promote-from-within culture and access to extensive development opportunities. Employees benefit from family-friendly work hours and a competitive compensation package.
The Teller role at Wintrust Financial Corporation is an essential frontline position that provides vital cash handling and customer service functions. Tellers are responsible for processing a broad variety of financial transactions, including withdrawals, deposits, check cashing, and loan payments, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulatory requirements. The position demands a keen eye for detail and the ability to balance transactions efficiently while delivering exceptional customer service. Tellers act as the first point of contact for customers, assisting them in both lobby and drive-up settings, and are expected to identify cross-selling opportunities and guide customers toward other bank services when appropriate.
This role also entails responsibilities such as recognizing potential fraudulent activities and promptly reporting them to management, upholding all department, bank, and regulatory policies and procedures, and embodying the established Wintrust culture. Depending on the branch, tellers may handle opening and closing duties and may be asked to participate in community events to boost local engagement. The role requires availability for all shifts, including Saturdays, and the ability to lift up to 30 pounds and stand for prolonged periods. Wintrust emphasizes teamwork, integrity, and customer focus, making this a rewarding opportunity for individuals seeking to grow a career in banking within a supportive and dynamic environment. The estimated hourly wage ranges between $19.00 and $21.00, with eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus, providing financial incentives in recognition of performance and contribution.
