The role of Store Associate at ALDI is a full-time position that plays a critical role in enhancing the customer shopping experience. Working approximately 30 or more hours per week, store associates at ALDI are entrusted with various responsibilities including merchandising and stocking products, cashiering duties, and maintaining the overall cleanliness and organization of the store. This role is vital in ensuring that the store operates smoothly, efficiently, and safely. Store associates are expected to work collaboratively with team members and management to uphold ALDI’s standards for customer service, product presentation, and operational excellence.

Store associates help maintain inventory accuracy by following merchandising planograms and adhering to company policies. They also assist in completing curbside pickup orders by efficiently retrieving, verifying, and delivering items to customers’ vehicles. The position requires physical stamina to handle tasks such as lifting products up to 45 pounds, operating various store equipment, and working in different temperature environments including freezers and coolers. ALDI offers starting wages beginning at $19.00 per hour, with wage increases over the years up to $21.00 per hour in the fifth year.

Job Requirements

  • At least 18 years old required
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior work experience in a retail environment preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to provide prompt and courteous customer service
  • Ability to operate all store equipment such as cash registers, floor scrubber, cardboard baler, pallet jacks, handheld devices, computers, etc
  • Ability to interpret and apply ALDI operating policies and procedures
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Ability to follow instructions and pay attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and with others
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and complete assigned tasks to maximize productivity within established timeframes
  • Ability to maintain reliable and prompt attendance
  • Ability to meet availability requirements

Job Duties

  • Model and fulfill all customer service principles and escalate concerns to store management as necessary
  • Inform store management of loss due to outdated or damaged products
  • Properly utilize the point-of-sale system to accurately scan and process customer purchases and inform store management of scanning concerns or errors
  • Adhere to cash policies and procedures
  • Follow the line policy and open additional check lanes as required to ensure an efficient checkout
  • Stock shelves and displays neatly while following merchandising planograms to maximize sales
  • Complete curbside pickup orders by accurately retrieving items from the store, verifying order contents, and ensuring timely delivery to customers' vehicles from the staging area
  • Maintain zone standards and merchandising standards at all times
  • Assist store management in achieving operational efficiency goals
  • Assist store management in achieving total loss goals
  • Comply with all established company policies and processes
  • Support store management in providing a safe working environment by identifying and rectifying hazards, ensuring proper ergonomics, and maintaining equipment in proper working order
  • Adhere to inventory procedures and product handling guidelines
  • Perform general cleaning tasks to company standards
