The Server position plays a crucial role within the Dining Services Department, ensuring residents enjoy a pleasant and efficient dining experience. The responsibilities extend beyond simply serving meals and beverages to include maintaining the cleanliness and safety of food preparation and dining areas. This role requires excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work collaboratively with the team. The Server must be adaptable, as duties may require shifting between various areas in the dining services environment.
A typical day involves accurately taking and relaying meal and beverage orders, ensuring food and drink items are properly garnished before serving, and upholding sanitation and kitchen safety protocols. The work environment involves frequent exposure to varied conditions, including heat from cooking areas and cold from storage units. Physical stamina is necessary to meet the demands of frequent standing, lifting, and moving around to assist residents as required. Emphasis is placed on safety, both for residents and team members, so knowledge of sanitation guidelines and food handling regulations is essential.

Job Requirements
- minimum of 1 year of experience as a kitchen/server preferred
- ability to work day and night shifts
- availability to work 8-hour shifts
- ability to stand, stoop, bend frequently
- ability to lift and push loads up to 50 pounds
- physical stamina to move freely about the community and assist residents including emergencies
- specific vision requirements including close vision and depth perception
- ability to talk, hear, sit, and use hands and fingers
- willingness to work in person at the assisted living or retirement home location
Job Qualifications
- general knowledge of sanitation guidelines and governmental regulations applicable to food handling and storage
- knowledge of kitchen safety protocol
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to maintain a positive and cheerful disposition
- experience working in food service preferred
Job Duties
- accurately takes and relays beverage and meal orders
- adds appropriate garnishes to food and beverages prior to serving
- prepared to work in any area of the Dining Services Department
- displays a positive demeanor and cheerful disposition to residents and visitors
- performs cleaning and disinfecting tasks in dining and kitchen areas
- follows sanitation guidelines and kitchen safety protocol
- performs other duties as assigned by the Server Team Leader or Director of Dining Services
