Job Description

Our company is a premier personal chef service dedicated to providing exceptional culinary experiences to a diverse clientele. We specialize in delivering personalized meal preparation, catering, and culinary education that goes beyond traditional restaurant settings. Known for our commitment to quality, creativity, and client satisfaction, we cater to individuals who value convenience and gourmet meals prepared in the comfort of their own homes. Our team is made up of passionate culinary professionals who seek to grow their careers while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. We pride ourselves on fostering a supportive environment where chefs can thrive and advance in their culinary journeys.

We are currently hiring for a full-time personal chef position that offers a unique opportunity for culinary professionals who desire more predictable hours and the chance to expand their skills beyond the typical kitchen roles. This position operates Monday through Friday from 8 am to 6 pm, ensuring that evenings and weekends are free for personal time. Unlike the conventional high-pressure and late-night hours often associated with restaurant work, this role offers consistency and work-life balance.

As a personal chef, you will manage 8 to 9 clients per week, taking full ownership of weekly grocery shopping, meal planning, cooking, and kitchen clean-up. This role provides creative freedom to explore and prepare a variety of cuisines tailored to each client's tastes and dietary needs. Beyond weekly meal preparation, you will have opportunities to host intimate private dining events, teach cooking classes, lead corporate team-building workshops, and support special projects such as menu design and event catering.

This role is distinctively different from traditional restaurant kitchen jobs due to the direct client interaction and the freedom to craft personalized menus. It also offers potential pathways for career growth into areas such as culinary education, event management, and leadership roles within the company. We invest in our chefs through hands-on training, mentorship, and career development programs, emphasizing professional growth and job satisfaction.

The compensation for this position is competitive, with an hourly wage of $23 to $24, reflecting the expertise and dedication expected from our chefs. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including retirement plans such as 401k with matching contributions, health, dental, and vision insurance after 90 days, disability and life insurance, accident and critical illness coverage, flexible spending accounts, dependent care accounts, paid time off, and profit sharing. Our commitment to rewarding hard work extends to clear pathways for financial advancement, including potential raises after one year based on performance evaluations.

To be successful in this role, candidates should have a minimum of four years of cooking experience, including a strong foundation in line work, attention to detail, excellent people skills, and a sense of urgency. A ServSafe Manager certification and state-specific Allergen certification are required, along with a reliable vehicle. Experience with computer applications, email, Google Workspaces, and social media is preferred. We conduct background checks and use E-Verify to confirm employee eligibility. The position may involve travel during training, which is compensated by the company.

Our interview process is comprehensive, designed to ensure mutual fit. It includes a 15-minute fit call, a video interview, a bench test where candidates cook a meal (with reimbursement), and a paid full-day stage. Additional incentives include bonus pay, unlimited referral bonuses, and paid training. Shifts are typically eight to ten hours during day shifts, Monday through Friday, aligning with our commitment to consistency and balance.
