Job Description

DoorDash is a leading technology and logistics company that has revolutionized the way people access food and goods by connecting consumers, merchants, and delivery drivers through its innovative platform. The company’s mission to empower local economies drives its fast-paced, ever-evolving environment where employees are encouraged to learn, take initiative, and innovate. DoorDash Kitchens, a segment within DoorDash’s New Delivery Models team, is dedicated to launching and operating shared 'dark kitchens' which serve multiple restaurateurs by providing turnkey kitchen spaces exclusively for delivery. This model allows restaurateurs to expand their reach and grow their businesses without the traditional overhead of full-service dining rooms. DoorDash Kitchens is a growing division that plays a vital role in DoorDash’s expansion into new culinary delivery models, combining the efficiency of technology with innovative kitchen management to meet rising consumer demand for delivery-only restaurant options.

The role of a Cook on the DoorDash Kitchens team is a critical position focused on maintaining the high standards of food quality, preparation, and kitchen cleanliness for a variety of merchant partners and food concepts operating under DoorDash’s shared kitchen infrastructure. This position involves a diverse range of duties including preparing meals across multiple culinary styles, maintaining an organized and spotless kitchen environment, managing inventory through proper receipt and storage methods, and supporting other kitchen staff with prep work and daily operational tasks. The cook is expected to have a strong sense of responsibility, initiative, and teamwork, always contributing to a positive culture and adhering to food safety and sanitation regulations such as those outlined by ServeSafe standards. The role reports directly to the Kitchen Manager.

This position offers an hourly wage of $21, with base pay adjusted according to location and individual qualifications. DoorDash values its employees’ health and well-being and provides a comprehensive benefits package including 401(k) with employer matching, paid parental leave, medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, disability and life insurance, and mental health programs among others.

Ideal candidates for this role are passionate about cooking and eager to work in innovative restaurant environments, including delivery-only kitchens. Candidates should bring experience from high-volume, fast-paced kitchens such as fast-casual or QSR (quick service restaurants), a willingness to learn new culinary techniques, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and efficient kitchen space. The environment demands excellent organizational skills, the ability to perform under pressure, and a proactive mindset. DoorDash fosters a culture where leadership, problem-solving, continuous learning, customer obsession, and inclusive collaboration are foundational. Employees are encouraged to embody leadership and innovation in everyday work, contribute meaningfully to their team, and help drive the company’s mission to connect people with possibility through technology and service.

Working at DoorDash means joining a diverse and inclusive workforce dedicated to making food and goods delivery more accessible and efficient. The company embraces people from all backgrounds and experiences and provides opportunities for career growth and development. The DoorDash Kitchens cook position is more than a culinary role; it is part of a broader vision to transform how people experience food delivery, supporting local economies while pioneering new models of food service in an increasingly digital world. Candidates who thrive in collaborative, dynamic settings and are passionate about contributing to innovative dining models will find this role rewarding and impactful.
