About the Role: The Line Cook role is a fundamental part of the kitchen team, responsible for the quality preparation of all menu items and the proper handling and storage of food products. Working directly under the supervision of the Sous Chef and Executive Chef, the Line Cook ensures that each dish meets established standards of quality and presentation. This role is essential in maintaining the smooth operation of multiple kitchen stations, including pantry, saute, and grill areas. The position requires skill in various cooking techniques such as sauting, braising, frying, poaching, and roasting. A key part of the role includes adherence to safety guidelines covering food handling, knife safety, and kitchen equipment usage. Additionally, the Line Cook supports overall kitchen cleanliness and organization, contributing to an efficient and safe working environment. The role demands flexibility, punctuality, and the ability to work well both independently and as part of a collaborative culinary team. Ideal candidates will bring previous kitchen experience and a demonstrated capacity to maintain composure and productivity in a fast-paced hot kitchen environment. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous kitchen experience
- Ability to safely handle kitchen equipment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Compliance with food safety regulations
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods
- Ability to work flexible hours
Job Qualifications
- Must have flexible schedule including availability on days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Punctuality and regular and reliable attendance
- Interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with co-workers and the public
- Must be able to verbally communicate in English
- Must be able to read written instructions in English
- To be able to demonstrate and execute the various cooking methods including sauting, braising, fryer, poaching, roasting and all the other subtle variations of them
- Previous kitchen experience is required
- Must be able to work in a clean and organized fashion with strict adherence to all safe food handling practices
- Must be able to work in a hot kitchen environment
- Active Food Handler certificate is preferred
Job Duties
- Food preparation and presentation in one or more stations of a large commercial kitchen: pantry, saute, grill
- Follow standardized recipes and ensure consistent preparation according to guest specifications
- Participate in cleaning of kitchen areas and equipment
- Assist with proper storage, preparation, cooking and presentation of all food items
- Assist with food preparation in advance of food service hours
- Follow all safety guidelines include safe-handling of food items, knife safety, safe usage of kitchen equipment
- Maintain cleanliness and organization during and after shifts
