Originally the site of the Terrace Motor Hotel, a notable hotspot in the 1950s and 1960s, these boutique hotels have evolved while maintaining their unique character and commitment to excellence. Nestled in the lively Austin neighborhood, Hotel Magdalena offers 89 uniquely designed rooms featuring custom walnut furnishings, premium Sferra linens, and luxurious amenities like SANTAL 33 scented bath products from Le Labo Fragrances, all bathed in the enchanting Texas sun at sunrise and sunset. The Housekeeper role at Hotel Magdalena and Hotel Saint Cecilia is pivotal in delivering the exceptional guest experience these properties are known for. This position is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of guest rooms, public spaces, back-of-house areas, exterior grounds, and linens, adhering strictly to the policies and standards set by the hotels, the Department of Health, and other relevant regulatory bodies. Housekeepers play a crucial role in maintaining the hotels' reputation by upholding high standards of hygiene, safety, and service. Beyond cleaning duties, the ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, conflict resolution abilities, and a thorough understanding of company policies and guest service expectations. Job Qualifications
- High school education preferred
- One year related experience in hospitality or service industry
- Open availability including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand primary workplace language(s)
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to effectively speak before groups of employees or guests
Job Duties
- Responsible for completing an in-room checklist for each room assigned
- Notify housekeeping supervisor or immediate supervisor about any guest rooms needing maintenance
- Clean guest rooms, public spaces, exterior areas, and back-of-house daily
- Maintain inventory of linens, cleaning supplies, and guest amenities at established par levels
- Keep storage rooms with at least one par clean at all times
- Report and correct deficiencies in guest rooms or public areas to appropriate individuals
- Assist in completion of mattress rotation, window washing, deep cleaning, and other projects
- Support implementation of special projects
- Maintain positive relationships with employees and guests
- Ensure constant communication between departments regarding room status
- Promote guest name recognition
- Possess knowledge of all guest services and amenities
- Answer calls courteously, professionally, and efficiently
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety in work areas
- Stay aware of and comply with safety and OSHA requirements
- Be familiar with all safety and emergency procedures
- Attend all relevant meetings
- Adhere to all operational standards, policies, and procedures
