This Housekeeper I position within the Kenneth Moy Care Center is designed to ensure the facility maintains exemplary cleanliness and sanitation standards. As a Housekeeper I, the successful candidate will be responsible for using prescribed methods, materials, and equipment efficiently to maintain the neatness and sanitary condition of the building and equipment. This role is vital for creating a clean, safe, and healthy environment for residents and staff alike. Day-to-day responsibilities include cleaning hallways, restrooms, and resident rooms, disinfecting surfaces, sweeping, mopping, polishing furniture, changing bed linens, emptying garbage, and assisting with meal tray delivery to residents. The position requires the ability to follow verbal and written instructions carefully and provides on-the-job training for candidates new to the role, making it accessible for individuals seeking to develop skills in a caregiving environment.

Physical ability is important for this position, as it involves exerting medium physical effort such as lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 30 pounds, and working on feet for extended periods. The job operates primarily indoors within a temperature-controlled environment, with varied flooring surfaces like tile, wood, or carpeting, and may occasionally require outdoor work on surfaces like concrete or grass. Safety protocols require the use of personal protective equipment such as gloves and safety glasses, along with proper uniforms and slip-resistant shoes to ensure staff safety. This role is part of the AFSCME Council 31 bargaining unit, which supports collective bargaining rights and emphasizes fair labor practices. DuPage County emphasizes its commitment to equal opportunity employment and supports the employment of all qualified individuals while making reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities when necessary.
