Job Description
Children's Home Society of South Dakota is a respected nonprofit organization dedicated to providing compassionate, trauma-informed care and support for children and families in need throughout South Dakota. With a strong commitment to fostering equity and inclusion, Children's Home Society offers a wide range of services designed to promote healing, growth, and stability within communities. The organization is widely recognized for its comprehensive approach, which encompasses residential programs, foster care support, mental health services, and community outreach, all delivered with a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by children and families affected by trauma. As a leading provider in this field, Children's Home Society continuously works to improve the lives of vulnerable populations through professional excellence, evidence-based practices, and community partnerships.
The Full Time Housekeeper role at Children's Home Society is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference by maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for children, staff, and visitors. This position offers a stable work schedule from Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, with no night or weekend shifts, promoting an excellent work-life balance. The starting pay is $20.00 per hour, with potential increases depending on experience, plus up to $2 per hour shift differential pay. Employees also benefit from a comprehensive compensation package including yearly merit-based raises and licensure-based raises, along with a supportive work environment committed to professional development and employee well-being.
As a Housekeeper, you will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining designated areas within the Children's Home facility, including laundering linens and children's clothing, maintaining cleaning supplies inventory, and ensuring storage areas remain organized. Attention to detail, safe handling of cleaning chemicals, and a proactive approach to identifying safety hazards are critical to success in this role. You will be part of a collaborative team that values communication, respect, and a shared commitment to the organization's mission. Participation in required training and quality improvement initiatives is expected to help maintain high standards and continuous growth. The position also emphasizes the importance of treating clients, families, and colleagues with kindness, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity, aligning closely with the organization's core values and vision for equity and inclusion.
Choosing to work with Children's Home Society means joining a team dedicated to meaningful impact in the lives of children and families every day. Benefits such as comprehensive health, vision, and dental insurance options, employer-paid life insurance, disability coverage, generous paid time off including holidays and community volunteer time, tuition reimbursement or student loan repayment assistance, and competitive retirement plans make this an attractive and supportive employment opportunity. Additionally, employees have the chance to earn referral bonuses and engage in a healthy work environment that promotes balance and well-being. By contributing to an organization that prioritizes healing and positive change, the Full Time Housekeeper will play a vital role in creating safe and nurturing spaces where children and families feel respected, valued, and cared for.
