The Housekeeper role at Children's Home Society of South Dakota is vital in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for the children and families served by the organization. This position involves responsibility for the cleaning and upkeep of designated areas within the facility, ensuring that all spaces meet high standards of hygiene and orderliness. The position offers a competitive wage starting at $20 per hour, plus an additional shift differential of up to $2 per hour depending on experience and education. The work schedule operates on a two-week rotation, providing a predictable and balanced work-life rhythm. In addition to the critical cleaning and maintenance duties, the housekeeper will also support the organization’s efforts by managing storage and cleaning supply inventories, reporting any necessary repairs or safety hazards, and participating in team meetings and professional development opportunities. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- ability to stand for extended periods
- safe usage of cleaning chemicals
- successful completion of background and pre-employment checks
- availability to work scheduled shifts on a two-week rotation
- strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- ability to handle confidential information professionally
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- prior housekeeping or janitorial experience preferred
- ability to follow detailed cleaning protocols

Job Duties
- Clean assigned areas according to daily and weekly schedules
- launder linens and children’s clothes as assigned
- maintain storage areas and cleaning supplies inventory
- report needed repairs or safety hazards immediately to supervisor
- attend assigned meetings
- participate in required in-service training
- participate in quality improvement activities as assigned
- handle and process material donations as assigned
