This role combines supervisory and hands-on responsibilities, focusing on maintaining sanitation standards, managing equipment, and leading the stewarding staff efficiently. The Lead Steward will work closely with the Executive Chef and Banquet Chefs to coordinate tasks, manage inventory, and ensure cleanliness across all kitchen and banquet areas. This position is hourly, non-exempt, offering a competitive wage range of $20.00 to $23.00 per hour, dependent on experience and education. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, with availability for both AM and PM shifts, including weekends and holidays.\n\nThe Lead Steward's responsibilities are diverse, encompassing the enforcement of standard operating procedures, compliance with state sanitation and health regulations, coordination of cleaning schedules, and oversight of all stewarding activities such as washing and stocking tasks. The role requires supervisory leadership to motivate and guide staff, manage inventory of china, glassware, silverware, and supplies, and assist banquet teams during functions. The Lead Steward must ensure the stewarding department operates smoothly, safely, and efficiently, maintaining a clean and organized work environment and supporting the broader food and beverage team when needed. This position demands a proactive, detail-oriented individual with strong organizational and communication skills, capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously and fostering a safe workplace. The employer also offers a $250 signing bonus with a 90-day waiting period as an incentive for prospective candidates to join this dynamic team.
Job Requirements
- Must be 18 or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years experience in a luxury market
- 1 to 2 years supervisory experience
- Fluent in English in speaking, reading, and writing
- Availability for AM and PM shifts including weekends and holidays
- Ability to relate to all levels of management
- Self-motivated and able to motivate others
- Ability to work safely and in an organized manner
- Ability to multitask effectively
- Strong organizational skills
- Proficient in mathematics and computer software
- Knowledge of hotel operations
- Able to walk and stand for up to 8 hours daily
- Able to reach overhead and below knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping
- Able to bend, squat, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent education
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a luxury market
- 1 to 2 years experience in supervisory skills

Job Duties
- Implement the standard operating procedures for the Stewarding department with guidance from Chefs
- Maintain and strictly abide by state sanitation and health regulation and hotel requirement
- Meet with Executive Chef and Banquet Chefs to review assignments, anticipated business levels, changes, and other information pertinent to the operation
- Develop a cleaning schedule for kitchen, pastry, garde manger, banquets, cafeteria, and coolers
- Continue to keep all special event storerooms clean and organized
- Responsible for the requisition of all products utilized in the stewarding area
- Stocking all storage areas when shipments are received
